Job Description
Purpose of the Position


The Senior Manager, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Operations (“DEI”) collaborates with key stakeholders across UMA Education to develop, implement, and monitor strategies that improve team member experience through innovative programs that help attract, identify, recognize, and retain top talent. Such programs will include developing and supporting new hire onboarding, creating and deploying team member professional development opportunities, leveraging talent metrics for proactive recommendations of inclusive management techniques in furtherance of team member success; as well as communicating DEI program opportunities throughout the organization. This role reports to the Director, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).


UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus.

Key Responsibilities


Functional


  • Leverage diverse and advanced tools of information delivery in support of achieving program objectives, including liaising with UMA resources to ensure successful implementation and functionality
  • Partner with the Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to design, deliver, and project manage programs and initiatives that inspire, engage, grow, and ultimately retain top talent in furtherance of the DEI Strategic Plan and UMA’ Education’s people strategy
  • Participate in other projects that create synergies within the larger UMA Education structure
  • Document processes and standard operating procedures (e.g., training manuals, etc.) to then analyze the effectiveness of efforts
  • Consult cross-functionally and across departments to begin building team member development roadmaps
  • Conduct analysis of programs designed to encourage team member success and/or engagement within a portfolio and build scale plans
  • Support DEI Council initiatives by lending expertise and leading efforts that drive team members success and increase retention of diverse talent
  • Oversee and coordinate existing and future UMA Employee Resource Groups
  • Lead cross-functional working groups to center equity principles in team member development initiatives and performance management systems

Support Institutional Initiatives


  • Lead with courage in support of change initiatives that impact the organization
  • Engage in institution-wide activities and initiatives as appropriate
  • Manage and coordinate efforts between departments within UMA
  • Keep current on institutional goals, priorities, objectives, and progress
  • Coordinate efforts in support of UMA Education’s five-year strategic plan, with a focus on peoplegoals


Compliance


  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follow, all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures
  • Effectively communicate compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the UMA Compliance department


Work Experience, Skills & Abilities


Minimum Requirements


  • Ability to develop and implement strategic planning regarding diversity, equity and inclusion best practices
  • Bachelor’s degree/or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in training and development (or other human resources function) which includes instructional design experience, proven proficiency with adult learning models, and experience in facilitation of professional training and development programs
  • Highly motivated and history of producing consistently high-end results
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience communicating, implementing and managing DEI principles
  • Ability to exercise judgment and diplomacy in working with diverse groups to address complex and often sensitive issues
  • Proficient in MS Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to professionally communicate in verbal and written English
  • Ability to work independently, conducting research and identifying solutions to problems
  • Able to appropriately prioritize and organize to complete all job responsibilities in a timely manner
  • Ability to establish and effectively implement initiatives within a mid to large-sized organization


Preferred Requirements


  • Relevant training and/or DEI certifications (e.g. Certified Diversity Professional, SHRM-CP)


Working Environment


  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work full-remote, on-site, or a hybrid attendance model
  • Up to 10% of travel required between locations - Valid Driver’s License required
