Position Summary
This position’s primary duties will include leading a team of Managers and Assessors, supporting Texas Rising Star (TRS) program across the state. Assumes responsibility for key implementation deliverables, developing and implementing protocols, and ensuring program compliance.
Position Key Accountabilities
  • Prepares/makes oral presentations at local, state, or national professional meetings. May also participate in committees as deemed appropriate for the department.
  • May support the development and oversight of budgets.
  • Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors the progress of projects, and provides supervision and guidance to key staff members.
  • May manage, through input to departmental leadership or directly, Human Resources activities for direct administrative reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
  • Translates current research into lessons/materials/presentations for practitioners (teachers, administrators, and early childhood specialists).
  • Coordinates, oversees, and maintains initiatives and/or project activities between internal stakeholders and external consultants or stakeholders/customers. For example, may develop curriculum resources for use in early childhood and elementary schools.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Travels to local, state, and national training sites to monitor and evaluate implementation of project activities/materials.
  • Supervises and monitors implementation of project activities and fidelity monitoring.
  • Creates training and determines training needs with little feedback from leadership; networks with lead developer and manages content contributors. For example, may write and direct classroom/center instructional videos for early childhood practitioners/specialists.
Certification/Skills
Certified teacher preferred. Knowledge of current reading research applications, experience with presenting best practices in reading, experience in classroom, experience supervising and/or coaching.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in education preferred.
Minimum Experience
Ten (10) years of experience in one of the following areas is required: curriculum writing, and/or managing school/child care programs, and/or designing and conducting professional development programs for teachers. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Physical Requirements
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
