Position Summary:

Develops and writes early childhood curriculum, training, and other resources.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Writes statewide curriculum for use in Pre-kindergarten, elementary, and secondary schools.
  • Designs presentations and trains teachers nation-wide on the most current research information and classroom instruction techniques.
  • Translates current research into lessons for teachers. Demonstrates model lessons in classrooms for teachers; provides on-going side-by-side coaching for teachers in classroom settings.
  • Travels to local, state, and national training sites to evaluate classroom instructions.
  • Evaluates current school textbooks and provides feedback on how to differentiate, improve and upgrade instruction techniques.
  • Reviews national reading curriculums for Pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, elementary, and secondary schools.
  • Collects and reviews testing data from sites for research.
  • Writes and directs classroom instructional video.
  • Prepares executive summaries and reports upon completion of on-going classroom sites.

Departmental Duties

  • Supports the development of early childhood curriculum that is research-based and pedagogically sound.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and partners to build research-based training that meets the needs of the field.
  • Creates instructional materials aligned with CLI’s high standards for classroom resources (e.g. effective lesson cycle, supports curriculum objectives, differentiates for diverse learners, etc.).
  • Reviews instructional content and provides thoughtful and constructive feedback.
  • Provides timely, friendly, and expert support to internal and external customers.
  • Uses technology effectively to complete day-to-day work requirements and has the ability to quickly learn new programs/technology as required.
  • Demonstrates exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Manages multiple projects/tasks efficiently while maintaining acute attention to detail.
  • Travels to local, state, and national training sites as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Certified teacher preferred.
Knowledge of current reading research applications, experience with presenting best practices in reading, experience classroom teacher who has supervised and coached teaching.


Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in education preferred.

Minimum Experience:

7-10 years of experience in teaching or curriculum writing with a bachelor’s degree. 5-7 years of experience in teaching or curriculum writing with a master’s degree.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Security Sensitive:

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
