Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Project Development to join the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Development team. The ideal candidate will have specific recent experience in the development of renewable energy or gas projects. The candidate is expected to lead the development of both greenfield and acquisition projects from the early stages of diligence through construction start in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. Candidates must have a track record of quickly ramping up in new energy markets/regions, on-the-job problem solving and ability to communicate professionally in a variety of settings.
Duties will include coordinating and prioritizing internal and external resources, performing site visits, securing discretionary permits and interconnection agreements, negotiating land acquisition, community outreach, operation of pro-forma models and community outreach. This position reports to the VP of Project development.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tactical execution plans to ensure projects stay on budget and schedule through all phases of development process;
- Conduct due diligence to assess risks and viability of early-stage projects;
- Foster community engagement, secure grants and tax abatements and understand relevant regulatory and utility requirements;
- Approximately 25-50% travel to customer locations for meetings and presentations.
- Lead all aspects of complex project development process by effectively managing land rights negotiation, permitting, interconnection, community approval and internal championing for multiple projects;
- Develop and maintain relationships with project stakeholders, including landowners, regulators and utilities, across the country, often in remote locations;
- Work with the project team / finance department to determine and validate assumptions and develop accurate models of project economics;
- Collaborate with colleague departments (including origination, engineering, finance, construction and O&M) and direct external consultants to ensure successful development of viable projects;
Experience & Professional Qualifications:
- Strong desire to advance waste and energy solutions that bring global benefit
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics or business
- MBA or other relevant advanced degree
- Results-oriented with the ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial environment
- Knowledge of legislative and regulatory issues affecting AD energy project development
- 5-10 years of experience in renewables development or similar field
