The Senior HR Business Partner is a trusted advisor and resource to business leaders within King’s Hawaiian. Viewed as a strategic thought partner and coach, the role of the Senior HR Business Partner is to help the California Operations People leaders be successful and accountable in their roles, mitigate employment risk within the organization, and serve as a liaison between leaders and the People Team to deliver optimal talent solutions that drive successful business outcomes. It is important to note that the role of the Senior HR Business Partner is a partner, a resource to the leader and CA operations. The Senior HR Business Partner position is not intended to enable a leader to abdicate his or her leadership responsibilities, but rather to help him or her lead more flawlessly. Employees in this position may interact with their manager when needed to receive guidance and feedback. Although non-routine activities may require a manager’s advance approval, routine decisions within the general scope of the role can be made independently.


Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities


  • In partnership with leaders, escalates to and problem solves with the Legal Team any employee relations issues that pose an elevated risk to the business.
  • Partners with leaders in the support of the implementation of key People strategy initiatives.
  • Provides People data and analytics to leaders to help them analyze and address root cause issues related to recruiting, retention, performance, process, or behavior.
  • Guides leaders in their responsibilities of working effectively with and developing their teams.
  • Identifies areas of employment risk and advises leaders on appropriate actions to mitigate risk.
  • Continuously ensure and monitors compliance.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Facilitates talent calibration and succession planning discussions with leaders.
  • Assists international employees with expatriate assignments and related HR matters.
  • Identifies opportunities for leaders to improve people processes and outcomes; orchestrates connections between leaders and the appropriate People Team support (Talent Acquisition, Total rewards, Internal Communications, Learning, People Solutions) to deliver optimal and sustainable solutions.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor and thought partner to leaders around talent including organizational design, role definition, recruiting, compensation, career development, leadership, retention, engagement, and succession planning.
  • Coaches and empowers leaders to set clear performance expectations, provide feedback, and de-escalate employee issues through conflict resolution.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE)


  • 5 or more years of professional experience as an HRBP required, with demonstrated success in the key accountabilities for this role, including development of trusted partnerships with business leaders, advising on organizational design and development, and assisting leaders with de-escalation of employee relations issues.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish - preferred.
  • Must have the ability to both activate and amplify our Aloha Values, namely Excellence, Dignity, and Telling it like it is in a way that can be heard, as well as the Aloha Behaviors of Critical Thinking, Collaboration, and Curiosity.
  • Working knowledge of Workday, ADP Workforce Now, ADP Workforce Management preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant work experience required.
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment required.


Physical Requirements


  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to collaborate with employees at all levels.
  • Expert ability to successfully partner with other People functions (i.e., Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Learning, Internal Communications, etc.).
  • Expert knowledge of CA employment laws, compliance, and employee relations.
  • Proficient in time management and ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Expert ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors
  • A data-minded approach, experience with quantitative and qualitative data analytics, and the ability to use data to influence and drive decision-making.
  • Proficient and comfortable in change leadership.
  • Expert skill in working directly with and advising leadership and supporting plant personnel in order to influence outcomes.
  • Proficient ability to understand, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • High level of curiosity and strong critical and ecosystem thinking skills.


Compensation Range: $130,000 - $180,000
