Job Purpose:
The Senior Healthcare Data Analyst is responsible for generating and presenting meaningful data
trends and insights based on multiple complex datasets and comparative data tools. This position
serves as an expert in producing and interpreting standardized healthcare metrics and using that data as a basis for decision-making and driving organizational change.
Position Reports To Director – Performance Management
Role Requirements:
1. Non-Technical Skills -
- Identify insights from the comparative analytics tools by drilling into the datasets- Test hypotheses regarding correlations and causation of data trends and variation of outcomes to comparative data.
- Develop and maintain a standardized, consistent methodology for clinical metrics (e.g., quality, labor/staffing, utilization, etc.) and work to advance this common methodology across the company’s Membership.
- Adhere to quality assurance processes to ensure data integrity by identifying, triaging, and resolving discrepancies and/or omissions in data.
- Work collaboratively with the organization to support usage, interpretation, and predictions of comparative analytics from third parties (Press Ganey, NRC Health, Qualtrics, Premier, Vizient, CMS, Leapfrog, and others).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. and Exposure working with stakeholders
- Optimize reporting and visualization of provider data to convey trends and performance metrics including clinical outcomes, patient experience, labor and staffing cost/utilization, supply and pharmacy costs/utilization, and other key performance indicators.
- Apply general knowledge of provider operations to guide the production of meaningful Reporting.
2. Technical Skills-
- Good to have: other tools like SAS, python
- Must-Have - Power BI, Advance SQL, MS EXCEL
3. Data Exposure Required-
- Remain current with healthcare metric definitions including key third-party metrics-
- 3 years or more working directly with clinicians, exposure to medical affairs- to identify data trends and insights- Working with data to identify the performance of the Hospitals and areas of improvement based on data- such CAHPS, CMS, VIZIENT ETC.
- Must-Have- CMS (Claims, Medicare, Medicaid)
- Good to Have- Working knowledge of healthcare provider metrics (e.g., CAHPS, Pay for Performance) or a willingness and aptitude to learn them.
- Vizient- CDB Database (Clinical Data Base)- Good to have
- Premier
- CMS- Medicaid, Medicare, Claims Data- Must Have
- Leapfrog
- CAHPS, etc.- Good to have
4. Types of Projects the candidate will be required to work on:
- Look at specific patient data, and compare that between members. Find discrepancies, identify cause and effect and help implement solutions to improve quality scores based on indicators
- Working with the quality and performance improvement team and the tools they will be using is from Vizient- CDB which is similar to CMS.
- Work collaboratively with Company and its Members to support usage, interpretation, and predictions of comparative analytics from third parties (Press Ganey, NRC Health, Qualtrics, Premier, Vizient, CMS, Leapfrog, and others).
5. Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree Or Masters' degree, preferably in information technology/sciences, data science, quantitative methods
6. Years of Experience Required:
- 4+ years - with Comparative data analysis.
