Job Description
Overview


The Strategy Sr. Director of the PFNA Growth Office will play the lead strategic, advisory and implementation role on a broad range of strategic initiatives across PFNA.


This role will establish and deliver the end-to-end strategy for PFNA growth objectives through highly complex analyses and problem solving, time sensitive delivery of proposals to PFNA and PepsiCo Executives, and highly collaborative cross-functional execution. This role will leverage internal and external insights to create innovative solutions to complex business issues, to drive PFNA’s ultimate 5-year growth strategy. Reporting to the VP, PFNA strategy, this role will lead a team of 7, be responsible for frequent interaction with and influence of PFNA, PBNA, and PepsiCo CEOs and Executive Teams, and will be responsible for laying out clear and compelling prioritization for functional business planning across PFNA.


Role interfaces with senior PFNA and PepsiCo leadership in nearly all functions (Sales, GBS, Strategy & Transformation, DX, eCommerce, Supply Chain, Finance, Global Procurement).


The Strategy, Insights and Business Development team is tasked to grow organic business > $1 billion over five years through strategic programs and projects. This Sr. Director and team build the “where to play” strategy for all of PFNA, to guide strategy decisions and define work priorities across all PFNA functions.


Responsibilities


  • Support the identification of business development and white space opportunities to support business growth, and lay out logical and compelling approaches to realize ROI
  • Act as a responsive partner, solving real-time issues or addressing opportunities that arise for the sector within any of the key functions (Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, IT, etc.)
  • Lead the development of Board of Directors content on a quarterly basis
  • Responsible for mapping out PFNA’s 5-year growth ‘journey’ with precision, including omnichannel strategy, white space opportunities, new distribution vehicles, Global Business Solutions plans, opportunistic mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships, etc
  • Lead a team of 7 strategy professions (ranging from L9 Analyst to LG1 Director) to deliver the PFNA strategy agenda, while delivering against DE&I objectives, and ensuring development and retention of a highly valuable team of critical talent
  • Create and implement breakthrough strategies and identify business priorities and initiatives that will accelerate profitable growth and market share gains across the PFNA portfolio (both products/brands and Go-To-Market infrastructure)
  • Leverage and apply insights and competitive intelligence, from internal and external sources, to identify growth opportunities and translate them into PFNA priority initiative recommendations with a high degree of credibility
  • Partner with senior leaders across PepsiCo (corporate, PFNA and PBNA, and Global Sector leadership) to understand, incorporate, and compliment strategic priorities across the enterprise
  • Maintain a trusting, collaborative relationship with all Business Units and cross-functional partners to successfully challenge current thinking, and deliver clear strategic growth direction to define functional work across PFNA
  • The leader and team also operate outside their immediate scope of responsibility on a regular basis, including building and publishing a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion White Paper on behalf of PepsiCo


Qualifications


  • BA required (MBA strongly preferred)
  • Global outlook with sensitivity and awareness of social and cultural differences
  • Analytical and negotiating skills as evidenced by high intelligence, strong financial and analytical capabilities and the proven ability to develop, sell and drive suitable partnerships, alliances, or other transactions to closure
  • Able to define and influence calculated risks for the long-term benefit of the organization and is thereby considered an extremely progressive thought-leader

  • 10-15 years of strategy experience in a variety of positions both internally and externally
  • Strategic mindset with an ability to think broadly, refine question, and influence multiple decision makers
  • Drives an open dialogue among team members and business leaders to help support the efforts to develop and move talent
  • Thought leadership with a track record of leveraging data and technology to develop and deliver high impact and successful consumer products or retail strategies
  • Written and verbal communication skills that enable the candidate to educate and influence management and senior leaders
  • Current consumer packaged goods or retail experience to be able to both identify and initiate appropriate partnership alliances and acquisitions
  • Highly analytical, motivated, decisive thought leader with excellent managerial skills.


As this role will regularly interact with PepsiCo and PFNA Executive team members in an influential and credible capacity, significant organizational savvy and a demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders (LG2- LG7/8) will be required to accomplish objectives. A successful candidate will have several years of experience in a consulting capacity, or consultative role, leveraging advanced problem solving and analytical skills to influence at a high level. This role will be required to manage a complex organizational matrix across all Business Units and multiple functions; the ability to break down barriers and get things done is a critical skill
