Title: Senior Director, Distribution- Barings Diversified Alternative Equity (DAE)

Job Summary
Barings Diversified Alternative Equity (DAE) platform provides tailored, diversified portfolios of private equity and real assets investments to our investors, globally. The Client Portfolio Management (CPM) for DAE will play a lead role in promoting and positioning Barings DAE capabilities to the institutional and wealth markets
  • CPM will ensure brand awareness across global investors and position the platform for growth and innovation. The CPM will ensure the ability to respond to changes in market.
  • CPM must be a private market “matter expert”. CPM must understand the role of DAE’s products to serve the needs of investors’ private equity and real assets portfolios.
  • The candidate should have a proven track record of raising capital and will be accountable for delivering on goals collectively agreed upon by the Head of the DAE Investment Team and Head of Distribution for North America.
  • CPM will work with our DAE Investment Team and other Distribution team members to identify areas of fund raising.
  • CPM must have the ability to communicate DAE’s products and solutions proficiently in both written and oral form with prospective and existing investors.
Primary Responsibilities
  • CPM to participate in and coordinate product development initiatives for DAE with Barings Product Management groups.
  • CPM must have deep experience / knowledge of market competitors and product offerings. CPM must have market perspective to develop, enhance marketing materials and position DAE for success. CPM must also have the ability to lead and coordinate the production of additional support materials to inform and educate investors. CPM to coordinate prospective client due diligence.
  • CPM must be able to leverage his/her previous relationships and experience to drive capital-raising activities for the platform. CPM will be able to benefit from broader firm relationships as well as relationships from the investment team. CPM must be able to establish a credible relationship with the Global Distribution team.
  • CPM will serve as a lead and/or an active participant in meetings with current and prospective clients.
  • CPM to coordinate with Global Distribution a go-to market strategy and leverage existing firm relationships to position DAE to win business in the global investor community and draw upon their own networks to develop 3rd party relationships
  • Lead the product development of both commingled products and separately managed accounts across private equity and real assets. Strategies included but not limited to primary funds, secondary’s, co-investments, direct investments, continuation vehicles, GP solutions and impact investments.
Leadership
  • Mentor and guide colleagues within the group, so they understand opportunities for development and lead by example on providing business collaboration
  • Be an ambassador for and demonstrate the leadership that embraces Barings culture of working within the DAE platform.
Professional Development
  • Keep technical, regulatory and personal skills and knowledge up to date, maintain records to evidence how this has been achieved
Regulatory Responsibilities
  • Abide by Barings rules and regulations
  • Abide by local market Conduct Rules and other applicable rules and regulations
  • Complete all F&P assessments and performance appraisals within required the timescales
  • Complete all mandatory compliance training within the required timescales
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have the following:
  • Familiar with private equity and real asset products especially as it aligns to Barings’ capabilities
  • Strong cultural fit able to work with colleagues around the world in integrated manner
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 licensing
  • Self-starter with strong drive and motivation to succeed and demonstrable track record in doing so
  • CPM will be private markets asset class “matter expert” and must have ability to communicate proficiently in both written and oral form with prospective investors.
  • Broad knowledge of the global investment environment, financial markets and competitive trends.
  • Ability to work effectively within a global team, interacting with the Firm’s Investment teams and Client Coverage teams in addition to internal Support & Control teams
  • Familiar with ESG investing trends and how ESG factors are incorporated into developing our DAE narrative
  • Demonstrated track record of capital raising in the private markets asset class. Demonstrated ability to engage clients across key jurisdictions. Technical competence to act as “Proxy PM” in investor discussions.
  • Ability to articulate complex investment themes to external clients. Solutions-based approach to informing and supporting investors
