Responsibilities


The Senior Director of Distribution, General Manager is a hands-on, inspirational leader responsible for all daily operations in a high-volume, seasonal, retail distribution environment. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a DC supporting two iconic retail brands.


  • Ensure facility and associate compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and implement procedures for inventory management and controls
  • Builds strong and trusting relationships with team members and business partners; works collaboratively and cross-functionally to achieve objectives; and communicates with energy and positivity to motivate, influence, and inspire commitment and action
  • Present ideas and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Champion new warehouse management system (WMS) to meet current and future operational requirements, collaborating with IT and external partners
  • Demonstrate a curiosity and growth mindset; fostering an environment that supports learning, innovation, and intelligent risk-taking, while exhibiting a resilience in the face of setbacks
  • Develop metrics to monitor and analyze key performance indicators
  • Deliver expected and consistent business results while putting the customer first
  • Evaluate and develop standard cadences to monitor and review site metrics and headcount with key leaders
  • Participate in and/or lead cross-functional projects
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and reduce waste
  • Proactively ensure best practices are shared across all departments and shifts in DC network
  • Define and maintain standard operating procedures for all fulfillment functions
  • Provide direction, guidance and coaching to the management and associate team to foster a positive, inclusive, and productive culture in a safe and clean environment
  • Initiate and/or manage change through a balance of tactical and strategic planning via continuous improvements and ongoing review and analysis of future business needs
  • Manage daily operations of the distribution center including picking, receiving, packing, kiting, and shipping
  • Manage the financial aspects for the facility, including P&L, Capex, and budget development; ensuring staffing and operational efficiencies meet targeted goals
  • Establish accountabilities and processes to ensure required levels of productivity and organizational objectives are achieved
  • Support strategies and drive initiatives that attract and retain diverse and inclusive talent; builds high-performing teams; embraces diversity in all its forms; and actively supports diversity goal programs
  • Ensure space and resource efficiency in the distribution center
  • Utilize data-driven analytical tools and systems to continuously monitor operations, identify inefficiencies, and develop optimization strategies
  • Maintain operational integrity, open communication channels, and resolve issues effectively and promptly
  • Drive the development and application of best practices
  • Manage vendor SLA's and relationships
  • Lead and direct the DC's leadership by setting direction and ensuring it is carried out, communicating goals, monitoring performance, and providing feedback; identifying training and development needs
  • Coordinate with other departments within the organization to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Manage a team of salaried and hourly associates, including recruiting, training, coaching, and performance management


Qualifications


  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills with an ability to adapt to changing priorities and use good judgment in complex situations
  • Bi-Lingual Spanish desired but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and financial metrics
  • 7+ years of direct management experience in a retail, automated, distribution center environment
  • Experience managing complex projects
  • Facilities planning experience
  • Comfortable with public speaking and delivering presentations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity working with warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software and technologies
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or Operations Management, or related field and/or work experience
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt desired but not required
  • Preparing and executing budgets, profit and loss accountability
