Description


Position Purpose:


The Senior Credit Analyst will perform credit analysis, including Loan Presentations and Loan Reviews, for the largest and most complex of the Bank's commercial/business credits. This position will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing and written assessments of the asset quality of individual risk exposures and overall composite asset quality. In addition, the senior credit analyst will be expected to trend risk and credit risk management practices.


Description Of Duties, Responsibilities And Expectations


  • Recommend alternative loan structures
  • Prepare sensitivity analyses, cash flows, and assessments of collateral guarantor financial condition.
  • To provide and maintain reporting requirements on Bank customers’ credit obligations.
  • May oversee the completion of projects including planning; assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work; evaluating results, etc.
  • Participate in the ongoing development of commercial credit policies and procedures that safeguard the Bank.
  • Serve as mentor for Interns and Analyst Interns.
  • Create thorough and concise analyses of the risks and mitigates of complex commercial loan requests by reviewing and analyzing the borrower’s financial statements, including but not limited to income statements, cash flow statements, balance sheets, tax returns, personal financial statements, and collateral appraisal reports.
  • Know and understand Bank/Credit policies and procedures.
  • Conduct analysis of the market (customers) and industry (competition, suppliers, and potential new entrants) and management teams.
  • Display detailed knowledge of principals of commercial credit, commercial banking laws, bank policy, cost accounting and, financial analysis.
  • Recommend risk grade changes.
  • Complete Loan Reviews as directed by Lead Loan Review Analyst or Credit Administration Manager.
  • To spread the borrowers’ financial statement information by use of appropriate software programs. To review financial analysis reports and act as the technical resource for the use of the credit software program.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes.
  • Understand new and pending laws and regulations that affects the organization’s credit practices.


Requirements


Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:


  • Knowledge of banking industry practices relative to commercial banking.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, etc.) and financial statement spreading software is required.
  • Detail oriented with effective judgment and time management.
  • Ability to provide feedback/train new credit analysts.
  • Bachelor’s Degree. Business, finance, accounting major preferred, other majors with a business minor also acceptable; or equivalent experience.
  • Five to Seven years of commercial underwriting experience (CRE/C&I).
  • Ability to coach and develop others.
  • A high level of initiative, thoroughness, accuracy and organizational skills required.
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Proven superior analytical skills
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain confidentiality of information, as appropriate.
  • Ability to plan and conduct special projects or assignments.
  • Understanding of the components of the most complex financial statements and personal/corporate tax returns.
  • Ability to work well independently.


Physical Requirements


  • Work involves lifting and moving loan files of up to 15 lbs.
  • Work involves being able to concentrate on the matter at hand, under sometimes distracting work conditions.
  • Work involves sitting the majority of the day.
  • Work involves eye strain due to the frequent use of computer screens, reading of reports, entering information into a spreadsheet, and so forth.
  • Work involves some travel, independently and with loan officers, to consult on financial loan information, training, meetings and so forth.
