Your role

Participate in UBS' credit risk review function to ensure acceptable credit standards are maintained and the all extensions of credit conform to established lending policies and regulatory guidelines.

Your team

  • Ensure all credit extensions have been made in compliance with UBS lending policies, procedures and U.S. regulatory guidance.
  • Assess the accuracy of regulatory classifications, and UBS risk ratings and recommend changes as necessary.
  • Complete individual credit reviews for all divisions including, but not limited to, reviewing loan terms and structures, analyzing borrowers/guarantor/counterparty financial performance, assessing economic/industry operating environment, and other relevant risk factors.
  • Verify adequacy of the Allocation for Loan and Lease Loss (ALL) process and reserve levels as necessary.
  • Review probability of default (PD) and loss given default (LGD) analysis as necessary.
  • Identify deficiencies in credit processes.
  • Prepare review reports of examination based upon CRR guidelines, as necessary.
  • Discuss potential issues with responsible account officers, credit officers, CRR management and other relevant stakeholders as necessary and/or directed.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of credit reviews as directed.
Policies & Procedures
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of U.S. and other regulatory environments as required including topical issues, and new/pending laws/regulations and their potential impact on UBS and the credit risk review function.
  • Proactively recommend changes to UBS credit policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of UBS' compliance rules and regulations in accordance with UBS policy requirements.
  • Manage and/or conduct review of borrowers subject to Close Watch monitoring.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of assigned industries and/or portfolios.
  • Ensure consistency of the risk rating and evaluation processes throughout the various units of UBS.
  • Manage and/or participate in the review of self-assessment results as necessary.

Your expertise

  • Undertake additional responsibilities/special projects as directed by management.

  • Approximately 10 years' experience in credit, credit review and/or credit administration with a financial institution and/or U.S. regulatory agency (OCC, FRB, etc.). Experience at both is highly preferred.
  • Through and/or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products suite.
  • Ability to evaluate Counterparty Credit Risk in order to opine on ratings, adherence to relevant policies, procedures and limits framework. Assess counterparty exposure and evaluate transactional risks associated with various trading activities across Fixed Income, Equities and Foreign Exchange.
  • Successful completion of a formal financial services credit training program.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or Accounting or equivalent work experience is necessary. MBA or financial certification (CFA, FRM, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with a variety of credit products (e.g. corporate credit, acquisition financing, project financing, trade financing, leasing, securitizations, derivatives, etc.) and willingness to lean new credit products.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and negotiating skills.
  • Able to arrive at creative solutions.

Salary information

CA, CO, WA and NY based roles: The salary range for this role is $147,000 to $182,000 based on experience, education, and skill level. This role may be eligible for discretionary incentive compensation. For benefits information: ubs.com/usbenefits.
