Job Description

The Security Assistant Shift Manager oversees and manages employees on assigned to his/her shift. This position ensures that operations are staffed efficiently, ensure that employees perform to established expectations, and ensures the safety of all guests and employees; all duties are performed within company’s policies and procedures, and applicable gaming and state laws.
  • Responds to guest and employee emergencies and reported threats. Documents incidents and ensures proper escalation for reporting and resolution purposes
  • Protects company assets from internal and external threats
  • Assists management with onsite investigations; coordinates and supervises onsite investigations as deemed necessary
  • Ensures all guest questions and concerns are addressed immediately, either personally, or by contacting the appropriate department, supervisor, or member of management, to obtain the answer to the question, or obtain assistance in resolving the concern. Owns the situation until the situation is resolved, or the guest is in direct contact with the Team Member who will resolve the situation
  • Assist Shift Manager with overseeing guest and employee safety by maintaining safe and secure environment by implementing and enforcing state, jurisdiction, regulatory, and company policies and procedures
  • Acts as a liaison the appropriate outside agencies during applicable incidents
  • Assist the Shift Manager with managing and overseeing department operations its employees during assigned shift.
  • Monitors and supports security-related processing
  • Manages HR aspects for subordinated team members, including interviewing, hiring, creating employee schedules, implementing approved procedures, training and evaluating officers, enforcing policy and administering discipline and coaching as needed. Plans, develops and directs staffing, work assignments and station coverage.
  • Other job related duties as requested.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Shift Supervisor(s) during assigned shift
  • Officers Is, IIs, IIIs, and IVs during assigned shift

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Effectively communicate in English, both oral and written forms
  • Associates degree in management or related field or equivalent combination of work, training, and education
  • Minimum four (4) years of direct security experience in a high end resort/casino environment or law enforcement and/or military experience, with previous supervisory experience or in a team leader capacity.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Able to obtain a valid Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency license
  • Able to pass the Special Police Officer certification
  • CPR, AED and First Aid Training

  • Knowledge and understanding of resort, casino and/or hospitality investigations
  • Extensive experience in verbal and written investigative reporting
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both oral and written forms.
  • Extensive computer knowledge
  • Proven ability to maintain professionalism and master leadership abilities
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS:

  • Regular scheduled hours : Work Days: 5 to 6 Hours: 10 -12
  • Other – Must be flexible if needed for occasional work outside of normal business hours.
