Scientist/Senior Scientist, Protein Sciences

• Perform expression and purification of challenging deubiquitinase proteins and the proteins they stabilize to establish robust protocols that can be used internally or transferred to external (CRO) resources as needed. Prior experience working in the ubiquitin-proteasome field is a plus.
• Provide expertise and insight for construct design and purification protocols for protein production. CRO management experience is beneficial.
• Support specification and procurement of necessary equipment, enabling technologies, and reagents to establish a state of the art protein biochemistry
• Make intellectual contributions to all stages of drug discovery and project delivery.
• Collaborate productively with assay development, chemical biology, and chemistry colleagues to generate protein reagents to drive drug discovery.

• Clear and concise writer with thorough documentation of activities in protocols and lab notebooks. Makes detailed observations, analyzes data, quantifies and interprets results.
• Knowledge of protein structure and experience in the preparation of high-quality protein samples for biophysical (e.g. SPR, ITC, DSF, FRET, MALS, SLS, DLS) and structural studies (e.g. NMR, X-ray crystallography, Cryo-EM).
• Creative and capable of developing new techniques and methods to drive science forward.
• Extensive protein biochemistry experience working with challenging proteins and multi-protein complexes.
• Comfortable with protein purification workflow (e.g. production, cell lysis techniques, filtration, clarification, purification modalities, and protein characterization)
• Willing to provide scientific training and mentorship to junior staff. Managerial experience is beneficial.
• Experience with AKTA FPLC systems and various methods of chromatography (e.g. IMAC, SEC, IEC, HIC). Comfortable using automated systems.
• Expertise with expression of proteins and protein complexes using multiple host systems (e.g. mammalian, insect, bacterial).
• Experience balancing CRO and internal resources to solve problems and drive progress.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to effectively present data within the company and to other stakeholders.
• Ph.D. degree and postdoctoral training (or equivalent) in biochemistry, structural biology or related discipline, biopharmaceutical experience is a plus.
• Experience with mass spectrometry and sample preparation is desired.
• Adept at working effectively within motivated cross-functional scientific teams to deliver project goals within timelines.

Expected Salary Range: $130,000 - $165,000 (Compensation will be commensurate with experience and expertise.)
