This position starts at a base level to get through the training period and gauge your ability to succeed in the role. If you are hard-working, understand business development, and have an understanding of retail distribution you will excel and be well compensated. A review is given at 30 and 60 days with raises and bonuses to reflect your performance.
This job offers flexibility and performance-based commissions and bonuses.We also have an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) in that vested employees will be offered equity in the company, this is an investment for motivated and driven professionals.
OBJECTIVES:Under the direction of the COO, the Sales Manager will work as a team leader to hold accountability and optimize distribution representation. They will hire, train, and manage the productivity and competency of the team. Oversee KPIs are met and SOPs are followed. Improve the customer journey of the sales process and work with the marketing department to coordinate communication. Manage the Sales Operations team of BDRs to cultivate new business, Sales Reps to expand presence in retail accounts, and CSSs to educate customers and encourage sell-through of all products.
1. ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT
- Distribute new leads and oversee their progress to optimize closing and revenue potential and reassign as needed to ensure the best account management.
- Set quarterly and monthly sales goals as well as conversion metrics with team members and review weekly/monthly as needed to ensure goals are reached or performance improvement plans (PIP) are initiated.
- Monitor and guide samples sent to clients to ensure the highest level of conversions, and adherence to SOPs surrounding this activity and to offer guidance to reps when needed to help close.
- Develop and identify training programs that will best meet the needs of our sales team – including negotiation, presentation, planning, education, closing, and customer management and work to build that in close collaboration with the Executive Team. Further, develop BDRs to overcome initial objections and CSS to nurture accounts.
- Support a team culture that is energized and drives individual and team accountability for results this includes doing competitions or other activities to promote this agenda.
- Ensure sales reps are meeting KPIs and sales goals, one month of missed goals/KPIs constitutes a written performance improvement plan. Sales reps not meeting sales goals and or KPIs two months in a row are warranted to be terminated and 90 days require termination unless an exception is made by the Executive Team.
- Train new hires and current Sales Team members to ensure they understand our industry, the state of the market, the value propositions of each brand, our customer demographics, and pain points along the retail process.
- Monitor and manage contact information and correct segmenting for mass email communications, working with Market department to optimize all customer touch points.
- Assist in building out and revising Sales Operation Team KPIs with the Executive team to achieve higher-level company goals through sales team efforts.
- Actively monitor and give feedback to reps on their process with clients, email and phone etiquette, and other guidance to ensure the best performance and train as needed to improve.
- Hire, train, and manage an in-market and remote working Sales Team of Business Development Reps (BDR), Account Managers (AM), and Customer Success Specialists (CSS).
2. DATA MANAGEMENT
- Ensure up-to-date account information on accounts including phone, email, and buyer name
- Documentation of BDR efforts and discovery call feedback with dialer tools (Salesloft and Abstrakt.io) as well as sample/upsell outcomes in the Deal Flow function of CRM (Hubspot).
- Follow-up reminders and tasks set in CRM for sales pipeline activities.
- Weekly reporting on MTD progress for sales goals, KPI activity, and CRM metrics.
- Ensure comprehensive participation with sales tools (CRM and tech stack) in accordance with KPIs
3. SALES KPIS (Must meet 80% monthly)
- Complete the Monthly scorecard by the 10th of each month with the above KPIs and a PIP if needed
- Maintain a 80% or greater KPI completion rate by each Sales Team member
- Increase retail branded book of business by 10% each month
- 20 new qualified buyers in Hubspot by BDRs, 5 new accounts per AM, per month logged in Hubspot
