Description

Purpose of the Job:

To contribute to the ‘Best in Class’ retail team in the horticultural industry by securing placement of Ball proprietary products and brands at retail through a collaborative approach, leveraging relationships with retailers and grower customers to achieve mutually profitable results. Retail Account Managers are the ‘First Call’ resource for retailers and growers. The focus of this role is to enhance the success of our grower partners with BHC proprietary products sold through Ball Seed and Star Roses.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with leading big box retailers, retail merchants and grower customers to influence product selections for new and existing brands or programs.
  • Contribute to the development of retail elements of the Ball Breeding Companies sales and marketing plans which results in clearly articulated retail execution plan contributing to the strategic plans of the Ball Breeding Companies.
  • Develop programs for national and regional chain retailers and independent garden centers to drive sales of Ball proprietary products and increase sales of Ball Propriety products in line with the focus areas from the Ball Breeding Companies.
  • Develop and make sales presentations and manage day to day account activities.
  • Follow up and share the documentation (results, comments and pictures) of the outcomes of sampling programs with sales and marketing associates of the trialing growers which will highlight opportunities, gain alignment, and drive the execution of the retail elements of the Ball Breeding Companies strategic plans.
  • Regular communications with Ball Breeding Companies, suppliers, grower customers and retail accounts. This includes seasonal line review with influential growers ideally with the sales managers which will result in successful execution of programs through aligned collaborators as well as actional insights on existing programs to influence activities and plans for the following season.

Requirements


  • Exceptional sales presentation and interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience working with multi-levels of an organization.
  • Proven organization and communication skills with attention to detail; demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, changing priorities.
  • Highly effective with presentation software.
  • BS in Business/Agribusiness, Marketing or related area and a minimum of 3 years of marketing, horticultural sales, or national account management is required.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and related software.
  • Minimum 5 years’ working with retailers to execute horticultural sales initiatives.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25 to 30% of time.

Physical Requirements
:
A combination of office related tasks, walking stores and greenhouses with customers and retail partners and setting up displays for trade shows that involve some lifting (this task is likely limited to two events per year).
