The Graduate Studies and Research Department is currently accepting applications for a Researcher - Data Analyst position to collect and analyze data to create products (maps, dahsboard, reports) as support for the Center for Crime Science and Violence Prevention. This position will also research and apply for new funding opportunities, as well as working with the Director of CCSVP and ORP in assisting writing grant proposals for submission to local, state, and federal agencies. This role performs grant required administrative tasks, and other research related administrative tasks (e.g., develop IRB protocols, participate in required meetings).
The Data Analyst will assist in educational outreach and conference development, develop and deliver skills-based workshops, and other educational outreach activities that assist in disseminating practical research skills to the community. Additionally, this role assesses feedback from workshops to make changes as necessary to improve results.
Additionally, the Data Analyst must maintain up to date on the best practices and research methods in the field and all related geospatial and analytical software and some programming knowledge (i.e., ArcGIS, R, Python, etc).

Candidate must at a minimum have a Bachelor's in a relevant discipline with an emphasis on quantitative data analysis. In addition to a BA/BS degree, position requires 3+ years of work experience in a related position. Alternatively the person may have a Master's in a relevant discipline, which may substitute for work experience.
Candidate must have demonstrable experience working with complex data and familiarity with one or more software/computer languages such as ArcGIS, R/Rstudio, Python, Stata, or SPSS. Candidate must be willing to become proficient in geospatial analysis as this will be one of the primary responsibilities.
A combination of Master's degree plus some work experience is preferred.
Preferred candidate has prior experience as a crime analyst and is an IACA certified crime analyst.
Preferred candidate has prior experience working on grant projects, including grant management and administration.
