What We’re Looking For

The Wright research group in the Department of Biology at Baylor University seeks a Research Group Coordinator to facilitate needs of the group's students, postdoctoral associates, staff, and the principal investigator. This individual will be a key member of the group, providing support to facilitate successful research. The Research Group Coordinator should be willing to try and tackle any requests coming from the research group and make the necessary connections at Baylor to provide best support to the group. It is expected that the Research Group Coordinator will be a proactive individual and seek opportunities to identify and meet unmet needs. Additionally, as a successful candidate you will:

• Be successful communicating and interacting with all campus populations including students, faculty, and staff.
• Understanding of the needs of a diverse student population within a Christian higher education setting and an openness to cultural humility.

An Associate degree, three years of relevant work experience, and an active Christian faith are required. A Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant work experience are preferred. Additional education/experience may be considered in lieu of one another. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What You Will Do

• Complete appropriate expense reporting and maintain necessary group records
• Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external constituents (e.g., HR, Procurement & Payment Services, Arts & Sciences key contacts)
• Book travel arrangements for group members and visitors, developing itineraries as needed
• Assist with writing recommendation letters/letters of support, and create reports as needed
• Perform calendar scheduling, coordinate group meetings, and assist in drafting agendas and creating meeting documentation
• Assist with presentations such as creating and maintaining templates and printing poster presentations
• Facilitate shipping for laboratory specimens, purchase lab supplies for the research group, and coordinate outside vendors, equipment repair, and work orders
• Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
• Develop professional communications and correspondence in support of the research group
• Support hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of student employees, and support staff hiring processes as needed
• Perform professional and administrative duties in support of the day-to-day operations of the Wright research group
• Ability to comply with University policies
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance
• Assist with onboarding processes for new students and staff
