Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will a part of Amgen’s Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) organization. IPP is seeking a motivated scientist to contribute to the discovery and development of new therapeutic modalities in both protein and RNA space. In this role, you will focus on various sequencing-based technologies to drive the understanding of MOA, selectivity, and toxicity and to advance Amgen’s drug discovery pipeline.

You will work collaboratively with researchers across multiple functions within the IPP department and broadly across the Therapeutics Discovery organization. The successful candidate will also work with external partners and contract research organizations (CROs) and have the opportunity to present work at national and international conferences.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Independently set project goals and timelines, design, perform and analyze experiments, interact with team members across different departments and research sites and communicate and present data to department leadership.
  • Participate in the scientific community through conference presentations and impactful publications.
  • Serve as subject matter of expertise and contribute to hypothesis-driven experimental design, execution, optimization, and documentation of research activities.
  • Develop and optimize various sequencing-based technologies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and 3 years of relevant scientific experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of NGS analysis is preferred.
  • Attention to details and independent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong molecular biology understanding and hands-on experience including but not limited to various PCR applications, primer design, qPCR, ddPCR, mutagenesis and reporter construction etc.
  • Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in mammalian cell cultures, cell line maintenance, transfection, stable line generation, and characterization.
  • Hands-on and routine operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of bench top sequencers, such as MiSeq and/or iSeq is required.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in developing, optimizing and improving various NGS applications, including but not limited to RNA-seq, amplicon-seq, CRISPR screening and mutation profiling. Deep understanding and experience with various sequencing libraries construction, QC and quantification is required.

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $115,991-132,873.
