Phd Molecular And Cell Biologist

Abilita Therapeutics (www.abilitatx.com) is an innovation-driven biotechnology start-up company focused on enabling the discovery and development of drugs targeting undruggable membrane proteins, including G Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCRs), transporters and ion channels.

We are looking for a highly motivated and talented PhD Scientist to join our discovery and technologies development team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and optimize cell-based assays.
• Uphold our corporate values of integrity, open communication, and collaboration.
• Coordinate and communicate experimental results in a timely manner. Present experimental results at appropriate meetings with group members and senior management. Write progress reports and provide concise summaries of project status to team members and group leader.
• Perform antibody screening/panning and hits characterization.
• Independently design and perform complex molecular biology work including construction of gene libraries for phage and yeast display, construction of variants libraries, preparation of samples for NGS.
• Work in a highly interactive and multidisciplinary team environment.
• Stay up to date with relevant scientific literature and emerging experimental methods.
• Support the organization by producing high-quality and reliable data.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated capabilities to independently design, implement, and troubleshoot difficult cell-based assays and cell characterization experiments.
• Hands-on experience with antibody display technologies is a plus but not required .
• Proficiency in designing and performing cell-based assays.
• Proficiency in molecular biology and advanced cloning techniques including ligation-independent cloning methods (In-Fusion, Gibson cloning) as well as mutagenesis techniques (Q5 site-directed and Quick-change multi-site directed mutagenesis).
• PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, or a related discipline with at least 3 years of experience in molecular biology and cell-based assays.
• Experience with flow cytometry and FACS-based cell sorting is desirable.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Direct experience with yeast microbiology.
