Position Type: Non-Exempt / Hourly
Reports to: Principal Investigator
The Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory located at the Brockton VA Healthcare System is seeking a research assistant for a funded study on the effects of neurofeedback on auditory hallucinations in schizophrenia, with M. Niznikiewicz, Ph.D. as the lead Principal Investigator.
The candidate must reside in Massachusetts for this position.
General Statement of Responsibilities:
The Research Assistant will assist with the day-to-day administrative activities under the directions of the Principal Investigator.
- Administering neuropsychological and electrophysiological tests
- Entering data into databases located in the lab and the National Institute of Health (NIH) website
- Assist with routine clerical tasks
- Coordinate with research sites involved in research conducted in the lab
- Position involves subject recruitment
Breakdown of Duties by %:
Recruitment --- 50%
Neuropsychological/ Electrophysiological testing – 20%
Data entry -10%
Coordination with other sites -10%
Assistance with clerical tasks -10%
Qualifications:
- Competent writing, reporting, communication, and Microsoft Office skills.
- Knowledge of neuropsychological testing would be helpful
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Bachelors level education in psychology or neuroscience strongly preferred
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands; and reach with hands and arms.
This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
An employee in this position must complete all appropriate background checks at the time of hire and periodic reappointment.
