RESEARCH ASSISTANT - CSON- Full Time
The Boston College William F. Connell School of Nursing invites applications for an independent and well-organized Research Assistant to work with Dr. Cherlie Magny-Normilus and her research team. The Research Assistant will coordinate and administer research study associate activities. This role will involve collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, coordinating research subjects, managing files, scheduling study visits, conducting literature searches and produce reviews, and providing support in data analysis.
This work is funded by an R00 through the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR). The Research Assistant will be a vital multidisciplinary team member. This opportunity is well suited to individuals interested in pursuing future careers/degrees in clinical research and/or public health-related field.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Obtain consent, maintain files, schedule and conducts on and off-site interviews using a variety of structured and non-structured questionnaires, maintaining data collection files, assisting with data analysis, and generating correspondence.
  • Collaborate with project manager and Principal Investigator (PI) to prepare IRB and study documentation (informed consent document, enrollment logs, questionnaires) for submission.
  • Monitors study activities to ensure compliance with protocols, and institutional polices. Maintains required records of study activity including surveys, and consent forms. Tracks enrollment status of subjects and documents dropout information such as dropout causes and subject contact efforts.
  • Assists the program manager and PI in development of materials and tools necessary to appropriately train individuals involved in the conduct of the study around issues related to (but not limited to) protocol requirements, schedule of visits, execution of research plan. Maintains documentation of training.
  • Collects data from potential research study participants by conducting interviews, providing questionnaires.
  • Follows up with research study participants by conducting phone calls and/or face-to-face visits. Provides additional research information, resolves any data inaccuracies.
  • Ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of on-site research. Prepares study kits and requisitions prior to study visits to ensure the appropriate items are available when necessary.
Requirements
B.A./B.S. (or similar discipline) past clinical research experience
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently, and in a team environment

Skills
  • Haitian Creole speaker preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Some knowledge of statistical packages SPSS, R or STATA is valuable
Working Conditions
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Travel may be required
