Research Assistant 2 - Social

The Lenz and Leuner Labs in the Department of Psychology, within the College of Arts and Sciences, seek a Research Assistant 2-Social to join our team. The Lenz Lab is directed by Dr. Kathryn Lenz and the Leuner lab is directed by Dr. Benedetta Leuner. The Research Assistant 2-Social will conduct and coordinate behavioral neuroscience research in the Lenz and Leuner laboratories including design, analysis and presentation of neuroscience research experiments, specifically ongoing research in studying the maternal brain and behavior; manage rat and mouse colonies; perform simple rodent surgeries and tissue collections; perform behavioral testing on rats/mice; performs quantitative Polymerase chain reaction (PCR), Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISAs), immunohistochemistry on rat/mouse tissues; perform microscopic data analysis; prepare solutions and reagents needed for immunohistochemistry and PCR and Western blot; maintain and clean equipment and facility and orders research supplies; maintain lab records; independently perform a variety of behavioral, biochemical and molecular assays; assist in supervision of undergraduate research assistants.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Neuroscience

Required Experience

Laboratory bench experience and/or animal research experience. At least 2 years of relevant experience is required.

Desired Experience

Research experience working with laboratory rodents desired.

Salary range = $17.10-$22.50
