Senior Research Assistant - Research Outcomes

A Senior Research Assistant will support preclinical studies through the execution of functional outcomes that are designed to test drug efficacy and characterize animal models. Assistants will assist the Animal Outcomes Staff in performing functional outcomes for multiple studies. The Senior Research Assistant will need to perform significant rodent handling.

A Senior Research Assistant will support preclinical studies at all stages conducted at Sarepta Therapeutics through the execution of cardiac, behavioral, and muscle-based functional outcomes to characterize rodent models and assist in testing drug efficacy. The Senior Research Assistant will need to multitask with a strong ability to communicate, stay organized, and document in accordance with GLP. Outcomes will need to be performed in accordance with SOPs and per study specifications. The Research Assistant will need to follow instructions and work independently. Additionally, the Senior Research Assistant will need to demonstrate proficiency in rodent handling.

Primary Responsibilities Include

• Document with strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Study Protocols.
• Analyze outcomes data.
• Supports Animal Outcomes staff in setting up and performing outcomes, including QCing and inputting data.
• Humanely and confidently handling rodents.
• Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.
• Executes functional outcomes including open-field assessment, rotarod, grip strength, gait analysis, plethysmography, ECG, physiology, etc.
• Assist in ordering and stocking inventory.

Desired Education And Skills

• Strong communication and ability to follow verbal instructions.
• Passionate about animal welfare.
• Strong understanding and ability to follow laboratory methods and SOPs .
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree, scientific field preferred.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Experience in laboratory animal handling and restraint techniques.
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work as part of a team with organizational skills.

This position requires significant animal handling and contact with substances that may result in sensitization to allergens or exacerbate pre-existing allergies. In light of this, Sarepta requests that individuals not apply for this position who have known allergies to mice, rats, or animal dander generally. This position requires work on site at one of Sarepta’s facilities in the United States.

The targeted salary range for this position is $51,000 - $65,000 per year. Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges. The salary offer is commensurate with Sarepta’s compensation philosophy and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity.
