As part of our rapidly growing team, you will play an important and unique role in working towards our mission to create the best people management system for our customers so they can spend more time doing what they love.
The Role:
As regulatory and compliance payroll manager you are responsible for ensuring payroll regulations are up to date and communicated to business leaders and functioning in the payroll system. The position will work with legal counsel, monitor proposed, pending and enacted payroll, employment and privacy regulations, and work with all departments of the company as a subject matter expert for current and future payroll compliance.

We are a remote-first company considering eligible candidates for this role from any location across the USA.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with Local, State and Federal Payroll regulations
- Monitor the employment wage and hour regulations (minimum wages, overtime pay, tips, etc.) to ensure compliance
- Advise of ways to reduce risk and establish continued employment tax reporting compliance
- Partner with Department Leaders for continuous process improvement identified through root-cause analyses
- Review regulatory advice was given to clients
- Review paystubs and other deliverables to ensure compliance with all regulations
- Interpret and provide guidance on business rules for federal, state and local tax laws
- Remain informed and knowledgeable of current employer tax reporting developments and work collaboratively with the Employment Tax Department to ensure compliance
- Provide our product team with guidance on how regulations should impact our product
- Compile regulation and compliance changes and requirements and present to appropriate business leaders
- Proactively monitor the current and future regulatory and payroll environment for relevant business and industry information
- Other ad hoc projects as necessary
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Self-directed and proven initiation skills
- Excellent communication can present regulations in a clear and concise manner
- Infatuated with the ever-changing regulatory landscape
- 5 years experience in payroll, regulatory compliance and/or legal field
- Proficient in researching regulatory changes
- Must have the ability to make decisions and judgements
- Must have attention to detail and accuracy
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Strong analytical skills - the ability to identify issues, and understand how these issues connect with underlying business and software
