The internationally recognized University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is a 10-megawatt nuclear research facility and the most powerful research reactor located on the Mizzou campus. MURR is a campus research center which operates under the Division of Research, Innovation & Impact.
MURR is the highest-power university research reactor in the United States, operating at 10 megawatts, 6.5 days a week and 52 weeks a year. The MURR facility enables research across many disciplines – From investigating ancient cultures and how plants respond to their environment, to analyzing industrial materials and developing radiopharmaceuticals that have lifesaving clinical applications, the MURR facility is a reliable resource for researchers, scientists, engineers and students across the country.
At the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR), we are currently recruiting an exceptional individual with a passion for science and desire to seek excellence in a dynamic, stimulating environment. As a Quality Control Chemistry Lead, you will evaluate the compliance of Laboratory documents such as testing documentation, laboratory data, and noncompliance records, as well as ensure the successful day-to-day operations of the QC Chemistry laboratory. Key Duties Performed by This Position Will Include:
The Quality Control Chemistry Lead reports directly to the Quality Control Manager at MURR and will lead the QC team focusing on laboratory execution and guidance for the GMP organization. Deliver efficient and effective outcomes in the areas of GMP quality and compliance to ensure the continued successfulness of the Research Reactor GMP Program. Responsibilities include, not limited to:
- All other duties as assigned.
- Train current and new staff on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) procedures including methods and standard operating procedure used in the lab as well as industry expectations.
- Assist in conducting batch testing or review of the radioisotopes produced.
- Draft and/or review records such as deviations, investigations, corrective and preventative actions, change controls, and document control records with subject matter experts and management.
- Lead complex improvement initiatives both individual projects and projects within the QC team. Apply constructive issue resolution, root cause analysis, risk assessment/decision making, and creative problem solving. Work to build consensus. Encourage and support continuous improvement initiatives with the QC team members.
- Maintain awareness of current regulatory expectations and industry standards to ensure lab practices remain current. Participate in internal audits, vendor audits, client audits, and regulatory inspections as required discussing complex and sensitive information.
- Draft and/or review standard operating procedures, analytical chemistry methods, analytical protocols, and equipment qualification protocols.
- Lead the QC Chemistry team which includes training, coaching, and offering performance and development management. Provide support and assistance for laboratory personnel in daily activities to fulfill customer and GMP requirements.

Salary
$70,000 to $100,000 per year
Grade: GGS 11

Shift
Monday-Friday, 08:0 – 5:00pm (flexible) w/ occasional evenings and weekends, to be discussed in interview.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's or Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference will be given to those with management experience, cGMP experience, general laboratory experience, and/or regulated manufacturing experience.
- Experience with technical writing, root cause analysis, effective corrective/preventative action identification, and/or risk assessments.
