How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)


The Project Manager, Airport Strategy role will have ownership of key system-wide initiatives within the ACS Field Support division. This role will specifically lead large-scale rollouts in close partnership with ACS teams and often involving capital investments. They will serve as the central point for development/implementation planning, communication, change management, execution, and early monitoring for initiatives that drive safety, performance, and the experience. A key focus area right now includes Next Generation RFID for baggage tracking.


This person will take successful Proofs of Concept and other known enhancement needs and lead the division’s efforts to scale them. This often requires additional development and requirement building by SMEs, technology teams, and vendors to create plans and oversee delivery. Additionally, they’ll monitor the financial health of projects by supporting its capital investment request and tracking spend.


They will regularly interface with partners so comfort with communication, taking initiative, and resolving issues is critical to the team. They will collaborate closely with various stakeholders throughout the project including Stations, Analytics/Reporting, Technology, Supply Chain, Finance, GSE and contracted vendors.


Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):


  • Communicate (both written and verbally) project status, dependencies, risks, and wins proactively with operational SMEs and senior executives
  • Track progress, coordinate tasks, and monitor financial measurements of initiatives in the pipeline
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with senior leaders across Delta to support system-wide initiatives that drive measurable KPI improvements
  • Establish expectations and priorities, monitor performance, coach, develop and create a positive work environment for the team
  • Oversee multiple high visibility initiatives simultaneously with complex moving parts, varying partners, and often capital investments
  • Interpret data, research, feedback, and analyze trends to identify new opportunities for enhancing the airport operation and experience
  • Lead cross-divisional, enterprise level projects with internal and external stakeholders

High proficiency in PC skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint


Must be performing satisfactorily in current position (if transferring internally)


High School diploma, GED or High School Equivalency

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (preferred Qualifications)


  • Knowledge of ACS organizational and operational practices
  • PMP Certification
  • Airline operation or other complex operational knowledge
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 4+ years of relevant work experience
