Job Description

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator I to provide support and direction for educational programming in health outcomes, policy, and economics. The position reports to the Program Director.


  • Serves as a teaching assistant in the Economic Modeling and Outcomes Research Operations course.
  • Researches other graduate programming in the field of health outcomes, policy, and economics to ensure that Rutgers programming is competitive.
  • Develops and conducts program assessments such as surveys and interviews relevant to the educational initiatives, and/or collates these data from other relevant sources internal and external to Rutgers.
  • Arranges and coordinates focus groups, interviews, advisory and other working groups relevant to the educational initiatives and/or to the overall HOPE mission.
  • Coordinates annual fellowship recruitment, onboarding, and daily support for all HOPE Fellows.
  • Develops a system for tracking and monitoring student progress in the educational programs and maintain current contact information for alumni.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Director, student advisors, students, and other program contributors to ensure timely communication between these individuals.
  • Updates the HOPE website as directed by the Director.
  • Provides administrative and technical support directly to students enrolled in experiential project work (for example, capstone projects) by communicating requirements pertaining to this work, ensuring students have been matched to advisors approved by the Director, ensuring that students complete required training pertaining to experiential project work (for example, Institutional Review Board; IRB), ensuring that students submit associated projects for IRB approval, and ensuring IRB approval before project initiation.
  • Supports the work of the Director and faculty to develop and implement HOPE educational initiatives including courses, degree programs, certificate programs, internships, fellowships, continuing education, and educational symposia.
  • Assists with research activities as needed.
  • Assists the Director in developing and implementing program recruitment strategies and materials including but not limited to presentations, brochures, social media, and conference exhibiting to promote the program, including occasional domestic travel as needed.
  • Assists the Director in planning events and visits related to the HOPE program, such as webinars, symposia, invited speakers, HOPE job candidates, and visiting faculty.
  • Prepares project reports, promotional materials, proposals and other materials to enhance current educational programs and establish new programs.
  • Manages the Director’s calendar.
  • Provides ongoing support directly to students pertaining to registration, program requirements, certification for graduation, information pertaining to graduation, transcripts, and other administrative documentation students may need (such as enrollment verifications).
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinates administration of educational initiatives with the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and Rutgers School of Public Health.
  • Supports grants and contracting as needed.


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Requires a minimum of two years relevant experience in education program coordination, research, or administrative function.
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of coordination, organization, facilitation, report analysis, writing, and promotion/outreach.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced with project management applications such as Asana.
  • Experienced with survey services such as SurveyMonkey.
  • Background in health economics, public health, outcomes research, or health policy.
  • Proficient with learning management software such as Canvas
  • Experience with institutional review board (IRB) responsibilities and training requirements.
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
