As the Production Planner , you are responsible for creating, updating and aligning the production schedule for Acuvue® Brand Contact Lenses for manufacturing / operations. Integral parts of this role include managing inventory levels (i.e. safety stocks), escalating risk as appropriate, and ensure the customer requirements are clearly defined in volume and SKU mix. The production planner is responsible for maintaining customer service metrics.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze planning data needed for cross-functional projects
- Establishes effective communication with various groups such as Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply and Demand Planning as required.
- Actively participate in meetings
- High level of communication and collaboration with cross-functional groups.
- Optimize customer service to avoid stock outs/backorders; identify and address all short-term supply constraints within the weekly process (long-term constraints within monthly process); analyze daily supply/demand alerts and address or escalate accordingly
- Collaborate and partner with Operations to ensure production schedule is met
- Resolve manufacturing conflicts for site/portfolio as they relate to production planning. Manage impact and communication of manufacturing driven change.
- Creating and optimizing a constrained weekly master production schedule (MPS) in accordance with customer demand and available capacity; responsibilities also include accountability for downstream replenishment and timely release for production in collaboration with the Quality Assurance (QA) Team
- Planning within a freeze period management of production activities (rescheduling, rework, outsourced work).
- Maintain and update accurate bill of materials (BOMs) for up-to-date raw material changes
- Maintain inventories within goal, while minimizing excess, obsolete and expired products; develop overall inventory projections for specific products
- Participate in new product launch meetings as needed and assist in developing new product production schedules
Qualifications
- Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence Tools, Training, and/or Certification is preferred
- Experience in Supply Chain Operations (including logistics, forecasting, distribution, planning, manufacturing, warehouse, purchasing and/or procurement) is required
- Strong logistics, analytical and quantitative skills, excellent communication, and presentation skills are required
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, making the complex clear and compelling to all levels of the organization in both written & oral forms is required
- Strength in interdependent partnering is required
- Proficient in SAP or similar ERP systems is preferred
- Accuracy with attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, required and Access (only) strongly preferred
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required
- A minimum of 1 year of related work experience is required
- Proactive thinking and approach
- Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time to domestic destinations
- APICS / IBF certification is preferred
