MARLIN Engineering, Inc. is seeking an energetic and passionate Urban Planner to join our team in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.At MARLIN, you will have the opportunity to work on planning projects with a focus on sustainability, resiliency, and equity for some of the premier Cities in South Florida as well as Counties, M/TPOs, and the Florida Department of Transportation.
The role will involve working with multi-disciplinary teams through the data collection, planning, conceptual design, and implementation phases of projects. We have seasoned professionals that will work with you to broaden your knowledge and career. We are seeking a candidate with a positive attitude, the ability to work independently and in teams, excellent oral and written communication, and analytical skills. Working with other members of our team, you'll also assist with delivering projects and building positive client relationships. Candidates should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, quality driven, and ready to grow our team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare for and participate in community events, stakeholder meetings, and interagency coordination meetings, including preparation of presentations and other materials.
- Research, compile and organize project data to support project analyses. Gather, interpret and prepare data for studies, reports, and recommendations; coordinate with multidisciplinary professionals and other agencies, as needed.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management
- Conduct technical research studies, analyze data, and prepare reports and recommendations for drafting or revising local legislation and plans, projecting trends, monitoring socioeconomic and travel data, etc.
- Lead, conduct, and/or support production of public-facing planning documents including technical memoranda, long-range transportation plans, multimodal corridor studies, and transportation policies.
- Assist or lead planning level tasks including internal team coordination, client-ready deliverables production, and external stakeholder outreach.
- May provide part-time on-site staffing at local municipal offices located throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties depending on contract needs.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of MS Office and GIS preferred
- Must have a current valid Driver’s License.
- Must possess excellent work ethic, attention to detail, capability to problem solve, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Transportation Engineering, or closely related field, Master’s degree preferred. Candidates without a master’s degree should be in the process of obtaining a master’s degree or have more than one year of full-time planning experience.
- Must be able to analyze data, communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- General knowledge of urban and regional planning principles.
- Engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
- AICP to be obtained upon eligibility.
