Senior Mechanical Engineer Jobs

Willdan Energy Solutions (WES) is seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Pelham Office. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be a key member of the engineering team and will work closely with our offices in the NYC metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical Engineering background with professional interest and experience in MEP industry. The candidate must have working knowledge of buildings mechanical, electrical and other support systems. Additionally, the candidate shall possess a combination of technical expertise and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction administrative duties such as preparation of field reports, provide responses to RFIs, process bulletins and addenda, review of shop drawings and submittals, etc.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, designers and drafters to effectively manage design and engineering efforts of systems for new installations, system retrofits, system replacement and system upgrades for a wide variety of projects and project types.
• Perform HVAC load calculations, ductwork, pipe sizing, and any other calculations required to support the mechanical design.
• Design HVAC and plumbing systems including all associated equipment, ductwork, piping, and specifications.
• Conduct quality control review of design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of proposals and contracts by developing project approach, scope of services and budgets based on similar project experience and participate in client interviews.
• Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions, gather information, meet with clients, and observe construction and help resolve field issues during construction.
• Lead the development of construction documents including design drawings and project specifications.
• Coordinate with the client and the design team, including owners, architects, contractors, members of other disciplines, and internal support staff to ensure the design is consistent with the project goals and ensure a fully coordinated interdisciplinary design.
• Perform project management duties including project planning, managing schedules and budgets to complete work on time and profitably.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in designing and managing MEP Projects required. 10 years experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong technical leadership and management skills.
• Experience with municipalities, government agencies a plus. Prior client experience with: DASNY, CUNY, NYPA, NYCHA and other NYS Agencies is desired.
• Must have demonstrated familiarity with NYC and NYS building codes.
• PE Registration (NY Required).
• Ability to mentor junior level staff.
