Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, mission-oriented Systems Administrator, in Chantilly, VA area, with strong Customer relationships.

The Principal Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for providing a full range of IT support services & expertise to customer activities focusing on Linux administration and management, client and server environment services and virtual environment services. This position is also looking to implement and take advantage of JIRA with Confluence experience. Primarily, you will demonstrate a proficient knowledge and understanding of client and server operations and maintenance with UNIX/Linux, virtual environments, backup, storage and recovery, and development of customer requirements. Secondly, as a JIRA administrator you will provide configuration and administrative support to a virtual based Atlassian tool suite including JIRA, Confluence, and other 3rd party add-ons. Next, you will assist and gain experience with ServiceNow, Windows Server 2016/2019 and Windows 10 environments to include Active Directory, Domain Controllers, FTP, DNS, GPO’s, PKI, DHCP, and auditing. Moreover, you will contribute with experience and working knowledge with Information Assurance in support of ICD-503 compliance as it relates to building Linux client and server images and upgrades for deployment. Lastly, you will provide administration of Linux systems integration into Windows Security Domains using LDAP for centralized user accounts and security group access.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Installation and configuration of Apache Web Services (and SSL), Apache Tomcat, and MySQL
  • Provide superior customer service; possess strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills in a dynamic customer centric environment
  • Implement custom XML based JIRA gadgets
  • Perform maintenance/upgrade of hardware and software while interfacing with enterprise support
  • Plan, schedule, implement, and communicate JIRA and plug-in upgrades in accordance with requirements, and established policies and procedures
  • Ability to create complex JIRA workflows, screen, permission, and notification schemes
  • Perform hardware and software troubleshooting and fault isolation with T4 vendor support
  • Provides guidance to lower tier technicians and specialists
  • Generate documentation on workflows and processes implemented in JIRA to support runbooks
  • Understanding of JIRA APIs and webhooks
  • Familiarize end-users on JIRA features during project deployments and on-going support
  • Experience with the security of Linux systems to include continuous monitoring, advising, hardening, scanning, patching, daily log review/resolution, and system health checks
  • Flexibility and ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects or tasks in a team environment
  • Work with business users to evaluate JIRA and Confluence plug-ins, determine licensing needs, and perform testing, installation, configuration, and support of plug-ins
  • Proficiency with RAID, SAN, NAS, high availability, backup, and disaster recovery
  • Responsible for documenting the configuration of the systems
  • Gather and refine information in support of customer requirements for implementation
  • Adding, removing, or updating user account information, resetting passwords, etc. on Linux systems
  • Proficiency with managing and maintaining Linux physical and virtual server environments (including RedHat and CentOS)
  • Analyze current JIRA configurations and migrate to new instances
  • Provide support for the escalation and status updates to senior technicians and management
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of COTS software in Linux environments
  • Gather requirements for business processes, and determine ways to optimize/improve JIRA/Confluence/Bitbucket; build and configure
  • Research and order hardware/software to meet customer requirements
  • Monitor network and Linux system performance; advise on compliance with security standards
  • Create JIRA projects, queries, and reports as required
  • Analyze and resolve hardware and software problems associated with Linux operating systems and applications.
  • Code, test, and debug new software/applications or make new enhancements to existing software/ applications and provide solutions using JIRA
  • Perform as a Principal Linux Systems Administrator (Tier 3) supporting multiple networks (including network services)
  • Architect and administer JIRA deployments, focusing on providing platform for Housing units to administer, track and report on department-wide projects and issues
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux operating systems
  • Ability to provide/configure JIRA for manual processes
  • Ability to compile and troubleshoot Atlassian tools and provide application support to end users
  • Able to partition disks, create logical volumes, create file systems, and mount file systems in Linux environments
  • Work independently with stakeholders and clients to design and deliver JIRA workflows to meet the stated and unstated business requirements
  • In-depth network and systems troubleshooting related to problem/issue identification/resolution
  • Create, copy, and administer JIRA projects
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in pressure situations
  • Working knowledge with ITIL Operations Management and Service Management
  • Plan, evaluate, deploy, operate, and maintain tools to suit the expanding user-base

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous NRO experience is highly desired
  • Ability to use MS Office and PC
  • Occasional travel, 25% CONUS
  • Security+ certification (active)
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 7-10 years’ experience, or high school diploma/GED and 10-12 years of relevant experience
  • COMSEC experience desired
  • Database administration, JVM tuning

Other Desired Experience:

  • Experience with system monitoring tools: ACAS, ServiceNow, and McAfee ePO and HBSS
  • Experience with scripting tools, such as Linux Bash Scripting and Python
  • Familiarity with VMWare administration and installation is a plus
  • Understanding of PHP, phpMyAdmin, shell scripting, utilities for web-based management
  • Experience building custom "rpm" software packages for Red Hat platforms
  • Experience with the configuration, migration, integration, and O&M of Windows, Windows Server 2016/2019, VMware, MS Exchange, server applications such as SCCM, and SharePoint
  • Works well in a team environment and has proven team management ability
  • Experience integrating Linux operating systems into Windows Active Directory
  • Experience with ServiceNow development, interaction, and application
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux System Administration certification(s)

Security Clearance Requirements:

Must possess an active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently moves Audio/Visual or Computer equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across and/or around a business campus or large facility
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer
  • Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel
  • Constantly positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet
  • Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time
