Location: Charlottesville, VA / Remote
Duration: 12+ months (20 hrs/week)
PM will serve as a technical resource. Primarily be responsible for working with key process owners in the planning, scheduling, and coordinating of all work related to the IT portfolio to include internal/operational projects.
Responsibilities

• May serve as a team leader on departmental or cross-departmental teams;
• Works with IT management to identify opportunities for improvement and ensures coordination with other County programs and systems;
• Timely and effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors, process owners and
• Performs project management responsibilities for multiple interrelated projects, some may require public input, multiple process teams, and multiple groups of project stakeholders and potentially multiple contracts;
• Supports training and facilitating the project management discipline across the IT department;
• Advises and assists departments in the preparation of project plans, focus groups, stakeholder groups; and drives collaboration between related departments and functions;
• Develops and administers a schedule utilizing MS Project to schedule activities, identify critical paths and required resources, and takes the lead role in monthly reporting to ensure objectives are implemented on time and within budget;
• Thorough knowledge of and experience with terminology, practices and techniques of project management. Responsible for delivering vital enterprise software applications/infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience as a senior project manager for a software development team executing the software development lifecycle (SDLC).Ability to articulate a vision and motivate people to act with a shared vision; Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in analyzing organizational and procedural needs and to lead project owners and teams in a positive and supportive manner; Demonstrated analytical skills and problem solving capabilities; Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with people, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County leaders and staff at all levels, elected officials, and the public, and to guide and facilitate the efforts of teams and workgroups; Ability to resolve conflict and inspire teamwork; Ability and experience necessary to work independently and establish priorities with minimal guidance;. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to express ideas clearly and concisely to both individuals and groups, and in public; Professional-level writing skills appropriate for correspondence, reports, action plans and responses to various County sources, outside agencies and the public; Ability to develop policies, procedures, and practices governing the development, formulation, and maintenance of project management.

Skills Needed
Active PMP Certification Required 1 Years
Thorough knowledge of and experience with terminology, practices and techniques of project management. Required 2 Years

Use of VISIO, Microsoft 365 (including Word, SharePoint, Teams, etc.) Required
