We have an opening for a Chromatography and/or Mass Spectrometry Scientist at our Mason, Ohio site to use state-of-the-art analytical technology and deliver practical solutions to tough challenges across the Personal Health Care business—including challenges resulting from new/emerging regulations for Substances of Interests (SOIs) as well as advanced characterization strategies for our global portfolio of materials across our OTC Drug and Dietary Supplement products.

In this role, you will demonstrate technical expertise (understanding of technical fundamentals/practical application) in your analytical / knowledge area via in lab experimentation. Starting on Day 1, you will actively work in an embedded team of R&D cross-functional partners and Discipline contacts to define project needs.

You will develop technical plans, strategy, and resourcing proposals to meet program needs (whether as project SPOC or in-lab contributor) with limited input from manager / technical coach. You will identify opportunities to make products and processes better and translate problem statements into in-lab experiments that create value, provide insights and advance projects.

You will need to recognize and find creative solutions to technical roadblocks using technical training and understanding of product chemistry relevant to their area. You will bring internal (within/outside their technical area) and external resources to create an environment where problems are solved and long-term solutions are implemented to drive business value.

Job Qualifications

You need skills and experiences that enable you to:

• Lead aspects of capability development within the Personal Health Care Analytical Chemistry organization
• Handle the development, validation, and execution of methods to resolve ultra-trace analytes, the creation of new data analysis/interpretation approaches, effective partnerships with analytical colleagues, and multifunctional teams (e.g., toxicologists and formulators) for R&D problem solving, as well as publishing and presenting findings of research
• Lead characterization strategies for critical materials used for manufacture of our products

Your Technical Background/training Should Include

• Depth in (U)HPLC
• Critical thinking and judgment
• Development and implementation of ultra-trace quantitative methods for analytes in various matrices using chromatographic techniques (UHPLC or GC) coupled to mass spectrometric detection.

You must hold, or be seeking a Ph.D. degree based in research demonstrating in-depth knowledge of:

• Analytical chemistry
• Chromatography
• Or a closely related field
• Mass spectrometry

Experience in the ultra-trace analysis area is not a must have, but would allow you to onboard very quickly.

Experience in developing methodology against GxP requirements in an FDA (or similar) regulatory environment is a plus.

The selected candidate will also apply deep mastery and strong communication and influencing skills to shape testing standards both inside the Company and externally. Other qualifications relevant for the position are: good collaboration skills, experience in establishing and maintaining working relationships, and independent/agile learning with excellent organization skills.

This employee will report to the North America Personal Health Care Director who is based at the P&G Mason Business Center. Overall, you will be part of the Analytical Chemistry Department at this location. Your constant personal and career growth will be prioritized.
