Job Purpose
Conduct flavor application (Alcohol Beverage Applications) and provide technical expertise to drive operational excellence and establish successful cooperation with customers, according to business goals and EH&S policies.
Flavor Application
- Execute daily brief-related tasks and apply knowledge during the flavor selection, evaluation and application development
- Lead evaluations of flavors in food applications for briefs, research projects and portfolio evaluations
- Identify appropriate flavor delivery systems and technologies for customer projects in specific applications
- Select optimal flavors for projects according to specified requirements (i.e. customer, regulatory, legislation, cost) and suggest improvements for the most common applications
Knowledge sharing & expertise
- Serve as technical expert and advisor to marketing, sales, flavor creation, and customers for specific applications
- Coach, train, and motivate technicians and technologists
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with a limited number of customers; able to gain their trust and respect
Data maintenance
- Actively maintain the flavor performance data for the flavor portfolio through evaluation in finished product and capture of profiles
Environmental Health & Safety
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized lab environment in accordance with EH&S policies and hold others accountable for following these guidelines
- Master's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or
- Polytechnic or B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or
- Ph.D. in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology
- Ph.D.: minimum 2 - 3 years of experience in a food applications lab, production, or related area (preferred)
- Master's Degree: minimum 4 - 6 years of experience in a food applications lab, production, or related area (preferred)
- Polytechnic or B.S.: minimum 7 - 9 years of experience in a food applications lab, production, or related area (preferred)
- Ability to supervise and manage technicians and technologists
- Expert technical problem solving skills in specific applications and basic skills in multiple applications areas
- Understanding of most food applications, ingredients, and processes with practical experience in customers* food manufacturing environment
- Ability to lead projects for customers including customer visits.
- Ability to translate market trends into innovative products for key customers
- Basic understanding of many of the flavor reactions/interactions in common food products and the ability to recommend flavor modifications based on performance
- Project management skills with the complete ability to lead large development projects
