Summary


The Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS), Housing and Community Development Division is seeking a is seeking an energetic and hardworking individual to join our team in an exciting Term Limited Temporary/Special Duty Assignment (TLT/SDA) position. This Project/Program Manager I position is responsible for providing Best Starts for Kids (BSK) Youth & Family Homelessness Prevention Initiative (YFHPI) program support to include the development and presentation of trainings, responding to inquiries, drafting correspondence, and assisting with the contracting process. We are seeking a team-oriented individual who is customer-focused, innovative, adaptable, and self-motivated. The successful candidate must be an independent self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills and is comfortable working with diverse groups of people.
This recruitment is to fill a Term-Limited Temporary position that is anticipated to end April 2025. If filled by a King County employee who has passed their initial probation, the TLT will be as a Special Duty Assignment.

Job Duties

SCOPE OF JOB DUTIESTo be considered minimally qualified, applicants must demonstrate a background that provides the knowledge, skill, and ability to:

  • Assist Project/Program Manager II’s with the development and monitoring of budgets.
  • Assist with contracting process, drafting contract exhibits and entering information into the Contract Management System (CMS).
  • Respond to inquiries about YFHPI case management and/or rental assistance.
  • Participate in the preliminary review of applications for rental assistance, working closely with the Rental Assistance Program Manager.
  • Assist the YFHPI team with drafting reports.
  • Draft correspondence relative to YFHPI and the rental assistance program.
  • Assist with facilitation of meetings, scribing and putting together workgroup meeting notes; assist with preparation for future meetings.
  • Assist in processing payments, including coordinating with Fiscal and contractors.
  • Work to apply an equity and social justice approach to all aspects of the work in partnership with team members and other division and department staff.
  • Provide support in the development and presentation of trainings in partnership with the prevention team.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO:

  • Can prioritize workload, work under pressure with tight timelines and changing priorities, and simultaneously work on multiple assignments.
  • Have demonstrated experience applying equity and social justice principles and practices, and understanding of place, race, age, and policy and systems-based inequities.
  • Can work well both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Are proficient with Microsoft 365 Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook, and with Microsoft Teams.
  • Have analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate high level communication skills, both written and verbal, for different audiences and communication needs
  • Demonstrate ability to work as a team member both internally and externally with other jurisdictions and service providers.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License, or the ability to travel around the county and state in a timely manner.
ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION:
  • This position has been designated Non-Mission Critical. Unless otherwise directed by the County Executive, department director or agency head, all employees, regardless of designation, are expected to report to work or request leave during an emergency or inclement weather.   • The work associated with this position will be performed or conducted through a combination of teleworking and onsite work and meetings. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
  • Classification- Project/Program Manager I
  • This position meets the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek, normally 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
