Job Description

Summary: Plays a key role in national patient education team efforts by producing education programs via multimedia platforms to further educate blood cancer patients and their caregivers on their diagnosis, and treatment options, as well as promote patient/caregiver self-advocacy. Manager will promote and implement these education programs as well as provide supportive services to patients with blood cancer and their families.

  • Manage pre-program activities, such as sending out request for proposals, organizing budgets for each program, managing the correspondence between LLS and the education vendor, create and edit content and promotional materials for the program.
  • Manage PearlPoint Nutrition Services® written evaluation process and execution.
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of the LLS mission and programs.
  • Co-host patient podcasts.
  • Collaborate with other team members on the creation of presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Present and represent LLS patient education team at internal and external conferences.
  • Utilize program proposals to facilitate the creation and submission of grant proposals to obtain additional program funding.
  • Record meeting minutes for patient education team meetings.
  • Produce and manage multi-media programming to educate and support patients and caregivers utilizing engaging platforms with easy-to-understand content.
  • Create a financial management system to track and manage all finances involving grant disbursement for all patient education programs as well as manage program related invoicing.
  • Lead on promoting programs internally by being the point of contact with LLS collaterals and interfacing with Marketing/ Communications and Social Media departments within the organization as well as expanding LLS reach by increasing program awareness outside of the organization and creating cross-promotional opportunities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Review and edit program evaluation and compile data on program effectiveness, reach, and other key metrics to monitor progress internally and demonstrate program efficacy.
  • Record and maintain patient and caregiver participation in patient education programs.
  • Review online chat support services by reviewing moderator chat summaries and extracting patient/ caregiver centered themes/concerns and anecdotal information to report to supporters and LLS internal support services. Record chat participation numbers and prepare invoices for online chat moderators. Maintain data for online chats.
  • Edit podcast utilizing editing software.
  • Manage post-program activities, including all correspondence with the speakers, education vendor, participants, and supporters to ensure that all facets of post-production are completed within the timeframe of the program.
  • Manage podcast logistics and correspondence, including finding speakers, conceptualizing podcast topics, creating podcast titles/names, podcast summaries and taking the lead on scheduling logistics.
  • Content management and creation/editing of learning objectives for webcasts, virtual lectures, video clips and podcasts.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Program management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in health education or related field.
  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience working in a non-profit and/or healthcare delivery setting.
  • Multi-media experience a plus.

  • Detail oriented, flexible, and able to manage multiple programs from inception to completion in a fast paced environment.
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus
  • Understanding of health behavior and health care delivery systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to articulate the LLS Mission (Research, Patient & Professional Programs, Advocacy/Policy) to a wide audience
  • Ability to build, leverage, and maintain community relationships
  • Able to work with others in a wide variety of disciplines, e.g., vendors, staff, patients, and volunteers.
