Organization Overview:

Faith in Florida (FIF) is about people, power, and change. Through a network of congregations in South, Central, and North Florida, FIF brings people of faith together, across lines of race and faith, to act in a unified moral voice for racial, economic, and environmental justice.

Position Overview:

The ideal candidate would have a passion for people and racial justice, strong relational skills, and the capacity to build bridges across multiple cultures. Strong written and verbal skills are required.

This position will focus on reaching out and developing relationships with religious congregations in Orange County and training and equipping people within those congregations to be highly effective social justice leaders.

This position is part-time with significant evening and weekend work. The candidate must have access to reliable transportation. Starting salary is competitive, depending on experience; benefits include a health care plan and paid vacation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of programs; i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
• Capacity to think strategically and analytically about social, economic, cultural, and political issues
• Relevant previous organizing experience (Community, Labor, Voter/Civic) is a plus
• Ability to work as part of a strong staff team as well as independently
• Ability and experience working cross-culturally
• Team Player with staff
• Strong desire to learn and openness to challenge others
• Strong relational skills and ability to connect, engage, and inspire community members across multiple cultures including; religion, race, gender, age, and class

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Create bi-weekly work plans
• Routine requirements (weekly and expense reports, staff calls, etc.)
• Provide ongoing leadership coaching and training to grassroots leaders
• Help participating congregations build powerful social justice teams/ministries
• Conduct 5-6 1-1’s meetings each week with faith leaders, impacted persons, elected official partners, and other community leaders
• Attend Organizing Development Trainings (this will be mandatory). Dates of training TBA
• Host chapter/lay leader's bi-monthly meetings
• Attend local and national professional development training
• Provide regular organizing training for FIF participants in the principles and skills of congregation-based organizing
• Support FIF leaders conducting high-impact campaigns including elections seasons, local, state, and federal (GOTV, S2P, voter engagement, VR
• Meet with local, state, and federal politicians

Compensation and Benefits:

• Part-Time position (20 hours)
• Generous benefits package including health insurance, and vacation.
• Salary commensurate with experience
