Job Description
The Claremont Colleges Services (TCCS) is the central coordinating and support organization for a highly regarded cluster of seven independent colleges known as The Claremont Colleges. TCCS with a staff of 300, provides exceptional shared services to 9,000 students, and almost 3,600 faculty and staff. TCCS staff work in both student-facing services as well as administrative and operational services. Our numerous departments are located throughout The Claremont Colleges campus in the beautiful city of Claremont, California.
ABOUT THE POSITION :
The Claremont Colleges Services seeks an adaptable and resourceful individual with keen attention to detail for the position of Drucker Archives Archivist. This is a part-time (20 hours/week), benefits eligible, 3-year interim position. The possibility of extending beyond the initial 3-year term is dependent on funding.
Under the direct supervision of Head of Special Collections and Archives for The Claremont Colleges Library, the Drucker Archives Archivist has three essential roles: archival processing (arrangement, description, finding aid creation, preservation, and re-housing) for collections; provide reference and research assistance; and coordinating digitization of the Drucker Archives materials for internal and external users.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
60% of Time: Archives
Prepares and processes archival collections following standards and best practices; enters data for existing and new collections; and updates collection records in ArchivesSpace.
Coordinates with donors and accessions new materials for the archives.
Responsible for stacks management: location tracking, filing, boxing, labeling, shelving, shifting, and related tasks as assigned.
20% of Time: Research Support
Coordinates and transports materials from Drucker Archives storage locations to the Special Collections Reading Room at The Claremont Colleges Library for researchers and ensures the materials' safe return to their storage location.
Responds to reference and research inquiries regarding Peter F. Drucker and the Drucker Archives history for both internal and external patrons.
Assists users in-person and by telephone, chat, and email.
Carries out research within the Drucker Archives collections as requested.
15% of Time: Digitization
Collaborates with Interim Director of the Drucker Institute, Drucker School of Management faculty, and related CGU staff to establish priorities for digitization, keeping in mind the fragility and age of materials and copyright law. May have additional responsibilities for digital production work.
Organizes patron photocopy and digitization requests; coordinates digitization of materials with library digital production unit; tracks requests and payments in the Aeon system; and delivers materials to users' Aeon accounts. Maintains clear and responsive communication with users of the Drucker Archives.
5% of Time: Other Responsibilities
Prepares reports, statistics, and other metrics.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule : The regular hours for this part-time interim position are 20 hours per week to be scheduled between 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday for a term of three years. The possibility of extending beyond the initial 3-year term is dependent on funding. May be required to work holiday, weekend, and/or evening hours. Regular hours may vary due to the needs of the organization or business unit.
COMPENSATION
Pay : The pay rate for this position is $26.00 per hour. The initial pay rate is not negotiable; however, this interim position is eligible for an increase in years two and three.

ABOUT YOU
You are curious, possibly with a passion for history, and have a natural aptitude for attention to detail. You are adaptable, creative, have a strong ability to synthesize information, and can find creative solutions while considering multiple factors and options. You have a positive and pleasant personality and are genuinely interested in learning more about archivism.
Education/Training : You must have one of the following:
A completed master's degree in:
History with an emphasis in Archival Studies;
Library Information Science;
Information Science;
A completed Archival Science degree from an ALA-accredited program.
Current enrollment in a(n):
Master's program for History with an emphasis in Archival Studies;
ALA-accredited Master's program in Library Information Science;
Master's program in Information Science;
Archival Science program.
Experience : Experience is not required; however, some is preferred. See Preferred Qualifications.
Competencies :
Basic knowledge and understanding of archival principles.
Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
Ability to work effectively both independently and with colleagues.
A strong public service orientation assisting archives users from diverse backgrounds in collegial, collaborative, and diverse environments.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Keen attention to detail; demonstrated problem solving skills and flexibility.
Physical Requirements:
Mobility: This position is somewhat active.
Lifting/Carrying: Up to 25 pounds unassisted.
Dexterity: Must be able to operate:
a computer for extended periods of time and other typical office equipment occasionally.

Vision: Sufficient visual acuity for reading and writing electronic and printed materials frequently and working on a computer screen for extended periods of time frequently.
Hearing: Sufficient auditory acuity for frequent communication in person, by telephone, and by video call, both one-on-one and in a group setting.
Work Conditions: Work is primarily performed indoors.
Vaccination: Must provide evidence of complete COVID-19 vaccination within 30 calendar days of hire, unless a medical or religious accommodation or exemption is requested and granted.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience working with an archival content management system such as Archivist's Toolkit or ArchivesSpace.
Knowledge of DACS and controlled vocabulary thesauri; familiarity with cataloging, LCSH, LC Classification and authority control, metadata schema and standards.
Familiarity with digital asset management systems (DAMS) such as CONTENTdm.
