About the role:

We are currently seeking a part-time Bookkeeper, Federal to provide support in various financial aspects, including monthly invoicing, payroll management, preparation of financial reports, and project-based accounting. It is essential to possess familiarity with federal financial regulations and have a comprehensive understanding of DCAA (Defense Contract Audit Agency) compliance and wrap rates.

Project basis: Hours will vary based on needs. Typically, 10 to 20 hours will be required per week.

Type of Work: Contract/1099 (no benefits).

Location: Remote, U.S.

What you'll do:

  • Reconcile bank accounts with QBO (QuickBooks Online).
  • Manage/maintain mappings between payroll (Paylocity) and financial system (QuickBooks Online) using Transaction Pro.
  • Calculate current and projected wrap rates.
  • Provide insight into Gen3’s financials by conducting basic analysis, and creating and briefing Gen3 leadership on monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports.
  • Report monthly/quarterly/annual profitability by project, ensuring proper cost distribution for project-based accounting.
  • Ensure labor distributions are consistent with DCAA/federal contracting best practices.
  • Run semi-monthly payroll.
  • Prepare and submit monthly invoices.
  • Advise on improvements/best practices.

What you'll need:

  • Experience with Quickbooks online is a must.
  • Experience with project-based accounting, preferably with federal contractor.
  • Understanding of DCAA.
  • 3-5+ years as a bookkeeper.

What's desired to have:

  • Experience with QBTime, and Paylocity is nice to have.
