Job Description

GGJ is seeking an organizer to strategically mobilize resources for our movements. This person is reliable, has excellent organizational skills, and wants to be anchored in a movement organization with a strong political vision and a commitment to political formation and leadership development for staff. Prior fundraising, development, budget management or resource mobilization experience is preferred but not required if the candidate has a passion to skill up in these areas, combined with strong political alignment with GGJ’s work at the intersections of grassroots feminisms, demilitarization and climate justice.


Hiring Timeline:

Open until filled. Interview Team Interviews start at the beginning of October 2023. Start date projected for December 2023.


Flexible Location, USA based
. Remote work with travel required for this position on average 5-10 days per quarter in the US with opportunities to travel internationally.


Compensation
: $59,500-$74,425, commensurate with experience, skill and need. Salaries are determined using an equity salary calculator that factors an employee's need, experience and responsibilities including traditionally invisible labor. This position is full-time.

Grassroots Global Justice Alliance (GGJ) is an alliance of over 65 member organizations. GGJ is organizing to build an agenda for power for working and poor people and communities of color. Position Summary:
The GGJ Resource Mobilization Organizer will lead grants management, including tracking grant deadlines, preparing grant proposals and reports, and supporting the Resource Mobilization Director to hold institutional funding relationships and funder organizing. They will collaborate with their fellow Resource Mobilization Organizer in donor management, including managing grassroots fundraising campaigns and supporting relationships with major donors and family foundations. In future years of this position, they will work to create and administrate member funding infrastructure. This position will report to the Resource Mobilization Director and collaborate with their fellow Resource Mobilization Organizer, Senior Resource Strategist, and Deputy Director of Infrastructure, as well as fellow staffers from Finance, Campaign and Organizing teams.


Job Responsibilities:

Development Responsibilities (50%)

  • Lead segment/donor-specific stewardship and ask/proposal communications.
  • Coordinate with the Resource Mobilization Director on writing and submitting grant proposals and reports.
  • Prepare boilerplate documents for proposals and reporting, in coordination with the Resource Mobilization Director.
  • Lead institutional funder management
    • Track grant deadlines, maintain grant portals and coordinate grant reports and proposal submissions.

Member funding infrastructure (25%)

  • In year 1, build relationships with GGJ members and learn about their resource needs; get oriented to the Organizing team mapping of the membership in the context of our national campaign.
  • After onboarding and into year 2, work with the Resource Mobilization and Finance teams to build out and lead member funding infrastructure.

Resource Mobilization Responsibilities (15%)

  • Participate in regular resource mobilization team meetings to ensure goal-setting and alignment across resource mobilization initiatives.
  • Identify potential donor organizers and champions, and bridge between GGJ political vision and existing donor organizers.
  • Skill up in political frameworks and skills to work with our donor base from an organizing stance.

Participate in GGJ team (10%)

  • Active and timely response on all communications (email, phone, texts, messaging apps, etc.).
  • Compliance with GGJ remote working policies and procedures (calendaring, availability online, response time to communications, receipts, etc.)
  • Attend weekly virtual meetings with staff, members and allies.
  • Participate in and support preparation for quarterly staff meetings, annual Coordinating Committee meetings, and other events and convenings as necessary.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Familiarity with CRM systems and Database management (Powerbase).
  • Ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends), including communicating with allies in other parts of the world in different time zones.
  • Ability to write and speak English fluently.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in U.S.-based Black, Indigenous and people of color-led grassroots base-building social justice organizations OR at least 3 years of experience fundraising.
  • Ability to work remotely, manage multiple work tasks, maintain attention to detail and accuracy, prioritization skills, and ability to identify and communicate items needing further attention.
  • Knowledge of common computer applications: MS Office, Google docs, Dropbox, Adobe Suite, and Zoom video teleconferencing systems.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Experience in multi-racial, multi-generational, multi-lingual, multicultural settings.
  • Willingness to travel: average 5-10 days per quarter (every 3 months) in the US.
  • Friendly, outgoing, personable approach to communication.

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with, and experience coordinating between sibling 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 organizations.
  • Experience working in multi-racial grassroots base-building social justice alliances
  • Experience with grant writing and donor management
  • Ability to write and read additional language(s) besides English, preferably Spanish.
