All majors are welcome! College students at all levels have challenges finding internship placements and are seeking out opportunities to learn and apply differentiating skills and experiences which set them apart professionally.

Through a collaborative partnership model with international nonprofits and NGO’s, Mission University employs college and university students as interns and they are paid to help our organization develop community improvement projects for underserved areas in over 30 countries globally. We want to help every college student get real-world experience, provide a meaningful impact to communities in need, and help every intern establish and grow their network of influence around the world while serving to better humanity.

There are no costs to the student to participate in this program, and all travel expenses, including airfare will be provided. Mission University is strictly philanthropic and charitable in our core purpose and mission to further volunteerism globally through meaningful, professional internship placement.

Internship projects are completed virtually under the guidance of credentialed and experienced Mission University faculty and topics for the projects are chosen by the student intern, in coordination with their university program, as needed. In most cases, the topics relate to the student's major area of study, and other students choose to explore a new area of interest related to a hobby (sports, reading, games, etc.).

Examples of work completed by our Global Interns spans six continents in over 30 countries to include:

• Social and behavioral science majors helped to improve living conditions in urban Monterrey, Mexico by developing a program with necessary social services and support for women and children who are displaced as a result of abuse and neglect

• Business, political science, and engineering-related majors collaborated to help an indigenous village near Santa Marta, Colombia implement a global e-commerce solution to sell their hand-crafted Mochilas (satchels/handbags for men and women) internationally to help support the entire village financially with their daughters in a tradition over 500 years old.

• Healthcare, education, and related majors providing health education for children and families in metropolitan London and surrounding rural communities by helping with resource needs assessments and helping deliver food and supplies to displaced families.

Student interns are organized in small teams, typically 12-15 students, led by our faculty who oversee the safest and highest quality community support services through oversight of student academic outcomes and logistical services support in the most needed areas around the world. We specialize in experiential education for students through internship placement as a way to gain unique, hands-on work experience while serving the most underserved populations in challenging global settings.

Ourprimary aims are to resource our partners and their communities through educational outreach and support programs to increase the quality, availability, and effectiveness of educational and community-based programs designed to promote wellbeing, and enhance quality of life. During your time interning, our teams will provide support for educational and community-based programs through the projects you develop to improve:

• Community wellbeing services through collaboration with international nonprofits to establish and implement mutual goals
• Prevention of disease and injury through assessment, education, and skills development
• Individual and overall community wellbeing through educational programs to equip community members with knowledge and skills

REPORTING AND EVALUATION: This position will report to the Chief Academic Officer and performance review will be conducted virtually (using teleconference sessions) leading up to and following the internship (see criteria and category weighting, below).

STRUCTURE AND PAY: Students are paid interns and will be part-time during their internship (earning a base salary stipend of $15 per hour for ~10 hours per week). Students also participate in fundraising with our Philanthropic team in order to learn and apply valuable experience in helping nonprofits raise money for international humanitarian support. Fully remote, flexible hours; hours and salary are paid in accordance with state and federal employment policy

REQUIREMENTS

• An innovative and thoughtful individual with an appreciation and understanding of the challenges facing not-for-profit and education sectors
• A desire to volunteer and travel to often underserved, international communities.
• Currently enrolled in a college/university (exempt if already graduated/alumni)
• A desire to learn and apply fundamental nonprofit philanthropic strategy
• A detail-oriented individual, with a desire to learn about nonprofit management and humanitarian missions
• Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills
• Flexible, adaptable, works collaborative, and engages other
