Nutrition and Health Programs Manager
Partnership for a Healthier America is currently seeking a Nutrition and Health Programs Manager to join our team remotely in DC.

Founded in 2010 in coordination with Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Initiative, PHA seeks partnerships that have the greatest impact on reducing health disparities and develops evidence-based, scalable approaches that drive equity-focused, systemic changes across entire sectors.
Over ten years, we have partnered with more than 500 corporations, convenience store chains, hospitals, early childhood education centers, food banks, and SNAP-Ed implementing agencies, among others, in pursuit of our vision that every family, no matter their zip code, has affordable access to good and nutritious food.
Alongside the recent White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health, we have made a commitment to add 100 million servings of vegetables, fruits, and beans to the marketplace by 2025. We have made significant progress towards that goal, providing 34 million servings to-date through evidence-based programs such as Good Food for All, Healthy Hunger Relief, Pass the Love, and Veggies Early and Often, and far-reaching corporate partnerships throughout the country.
Position Overview
The Manager, Nutrition & Health Programs will oversee PHA’s Veggies Early & Often initiative and support a variety of programs through nutrition content development and program administration.
Veggies Early & Often convenes leaders in food, healthcare, professionals, and early childhood education to consolidate evidence and promote vegetable consumption among 0-5 year olds.
PHA’s programs (Good Food for All and Healthy Hunger Relief) work with families and institutions to assure good food access and healthy eating habits.
This position will report directly to the Senior Director, Impact & Evaluation and will support and be supported by a diverse coalition of external partners and internal colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate weekly communications with partners and participants in collaboration with program leads.
- Conduct data collection and entry regularly that feeds into publicly available data and funder reporting.
- Support fundraisers with partner coordination, data entry, and messaging as needed.
- Manage PHA’s Veggies Early & Often initiative and raise the profile of PHA’s programmatic work and partnerships in early childhood.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Integrate nutrition expertise across PHA’s programs by developing educational and communications materials for the public audiences.
- Translate nutrition science into health messaging and review products, menus, recipes and more to align with PHA nutrition guidelines.
- Act as representative of and spokesperson for the PHA’s nutrition-related work, Veggies Early & Often in particular, both internally and externally.
- Build strong and informed working relationships with expert and industry leaders to ensure goals are met.
- Ensure all existing and new nutrition content align with PHA’s overall goals, metrics, and outcomes.
- Support program leads with regular program administration, implementation, and partner coordination.
- Provide administrative and communications support for PHA’s programs such as Good Food for All and Healthy Hunger Relief.
- Manage PHA’s nutrition and health interests across all areas of the organization.
- Support corporate partnerships by assessing food and beverage products according to PHA healthier product criteria.
- Support Senior Director of Impact and Evaluation with data collection and partner reporting.
- Promote why “veggies early and often” matters by: hosting coalition meetings, showcasing innovation to increase vegetable consumption, and developing and disseminating nutrition education resources.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification as a registered dietitian (RD) or registered dietician nutritionist (RDN) required, and a degree in public health or related fields is a plus.
- Team and solutions oriented, seeing opportunities to organize, discover problems and find creative ways to solve them.

- Value diversity, equity, and inclusion, incorporating them continuously, modeling inclusive behaviors and proactively managing bias.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in health and nutrition communications, program management in hunger relief, early childhood content, or food and beverage marketing.
- Well-developed communications skills, comfort with facilitating meetings that build trust and enable diverse groups to develop synergy.
- Knowledgeable about early childhood nutrition, federal nutrition assistance programs, food and nutrition security, and can integrate nutrition expertise across PHA’s programs and partnerships.
- Experience with databases and account management, Salesforce is a plus.
- Experience in setting group goals, preparing presentations and proposals, and assessing results of program or partnership efforts.
Reporting Structure:
The Manager, Nutrition & Health Programs reports to the Senior Director, Impact & Evaluation, as part of a time led by the Vice President, Programs.
Compensation:
● The salary range for this position is $70,000/- to $85,000/- commensurate with experience.
