Position:Northeast Regional Representative
Department:Government Affairs
Reports to:Chief Government Affairs Officer
Status:Full Time, Exempt
Overview:HAI’s Regional Representative promotes the association’s initiatives and enhances the organization’s ability to address the unique regional needs of HAI’s Membership. This position based in New York or New Jersey will serve as the Northeast Regional Representative.
Essential Functions of the Position Include, but Are Not Limited To:
- Inform and communicate pertinent policy information as a representative of HAI at local events and meetings
- Contribute content to HAI’s government affairs newsletters and other communication media
- Build external relationships that engage the associations regional level membership
- Promote safety initiatives and other HAI member services
- Support HAI’s advocacy efforts by developing local strategies that promote favorable legislation for the industry and the association’s membership
- Advocate to local legislators and government officials
- Serve as a liaison with government officials to address regional issues impacting HAI members
- Work collaboratively with the government affairs team to develop and implement programs that support the international helicopter community
- HAI’s point of contact for internal and external inquiries related to the region

Desired Qualifications for the Position Include:
- Knowledge and in-depth understanding of issues impacting the helicopter industry in the assigned region
- Ability to travel 70% of the time
- Experience successfully communicating and working in a remote environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with prior experience in creating and delivering public presentations
- Highly motivated, able to work independently and collaborate with a team
- Minimum of ten years of federal and/or state legislative, regulatory, lobbying or political experience
- Previous experience managing programs for federal and/or state initiatives. Helicopter and aviation-related issues a plus
- Bachelor’s degree
