Boeing is currently seeking a Noise and Vibration Lab Operations Engineer (Entry-Level, Associate or Mid-Level) to join the Propulsion, Vibration, and Noise (PVN) Lab team in Tukwila, WA or Seattle, WA. The PVN Labs are responsible for laboratory and aircraft ground testing to support airplane design, development, certification, research and technology development, delivery, after sales support, and accident investigations for all Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) products and many Boeing Defense Systems (BDS) products.
This position is part of a team that supports the whole PVN Lab group but will be primarily supporting the Vibration and Noise labs. The role is responsible for ensuring the test facilities used by the Noise and Vibration Labs are fully operational and ready to support testing. We have eight (8) main test labs located at two sites that support the testing capabilities. Each lab has a unique suite of equipment and infrastructure including large shaker tables, sensitive microphones, and a low speed wind tunnel among other more common equipment.
The ideal candidate will have experience operating in a dynamic and emergent environment, have experience working with facilities groups and vendors supporting building infrastructure projects, and have a broad background of working with a wide variety of equipment and systems such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc. Project management skills, good organization, experience operating independently, ability to coordinate with multiple organizations, and a commitment to safety and first-time quality will benefit this role.
This position is for 1st shift; however, various shifts, nights, weekends and alternate shifts may be required to support program objectives.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Entry-Level, Associate and Mid-Level Noise and Vibration Lab Operations Engineers.
Position Responsibilities:
- Coordinate monthly safety walks with management, EHS, and other engineering and mechanic staff
- Develop of the capital and expense long range business plan (LRBP) inputs as related to Noise and Vibration test facilities requirements and participate as part of the capital planning activities
- Coordinate with lab leads to support their infrastructure needs
- Support Propulsion Lab Operations engineering on some shared projects
- Coordinate with the Boeing internal Facilities and Asset Management (F&AM) group on required maintenance support and infrastructure related issues and projects
- Serve as the overall safety focal for the Vibration and Noise team
- Maintain the lab process documentation and drawings specifically related to the test facilities and infrastructure
- Support the test engineers for some test setup activities
- Coordinate with various EHS and other external support groups in regard to lab safety and related activities including responsibility for maintaining lab safety documentation and signage
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Plant engineering type experience
- 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with various kinds of piping systems, valves, compressors, pumps, and hydraulics
- Experience with Lab Test operations
- 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of experience with facility maintenance in an engineering and/or management role
Typical Education/Experience:
Entry-Level (level 1)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Associate (level 2)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Mid-Level (level 3)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for entry-level: $68,850-$93,150
Summary pay range for associate level: $80,750-$109,250
Summary pay range for mid-level: $96,900-$131,100
