WestRock’s Corporate Development team serves as an internal team focused on finding ways to grow and add value to the company. Corporate Development is responsible for carrying out transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, strategic partnerships and more, in order to deliver on WRK’s business strategy. We are seeking an ambitious and dynamic individual to join the Corporate Development team at our Headquarters location in Sandy Springs, Georgia in the role of Manager, Corporate Development. The Corporate Development group is responsible for directing short- and long-term strategic projects that support WestRock’s corporate growth strategy and increase shareholder value. The Corporate Development group leads the evaluation and execution of all mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, strategic investments, and joint ventures.


How You Will Impact WestRock


  • The individual in this role will work closely with the Corporate Strategy group and Senior Management Team to source and assess new business opportunities consistent with the Company’s corporate strategy.
  • Specific responsibilities could include performing strategic and quantitative analyses, conducting due diligence, determining appropriate valuations and deal structures, driving deal activities to closure, and coordinating deal integration.
  • The role will report to the Sr Director of Corporate Development and manage a cross-functional team involving Business Units and Corporate Departments (e.g., Finance and Tax, Legal, Human Resources, Environmental, Insurance and Treasury) to lead every phase of the merger/acquisition/divestiture/strategic investment/joint venture process.


What You Need To Succeed


  • Advanced competency with necessary software and web-based tools, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and CapitalIQ
  • 2 + years of investment banking (M&A preferred), corporate development or transaction advisory services experience
  • Comfortable within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail and skills in project management/communication
  • Strong financial analysis and business skills, including robust valuation expertise; due diligence experience; and the ability to work independently across multiple business units and corporate groups
  • Must be professional, articulate, and able to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization
  • BA or BS undergraduate degree in a related field
  • Strong strategic assessment, financial statement analysis, and financial/valuation modeling skills to effectively evaluate opportunities
  • Understands all aspects of an M&A process and traditional valuation methodologies
