THE GIG
As the Marketing Director, Brand, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the marketing strategy and plans that inspire, connect, and engage with Dr. Martens’ target consumers, cementing the brand’s positioning in rebellious self-expression. You will work cross-functionally with the DTC and wholesale marketing teams, Americas sales and product teams, and global marketing counterparts, to develop and execute culturally relevant campaigns and activations, across the marketing mix, that deliver on both brand and business goals. You will lead a team of direct reports including social media, PR and integrated marketing, and play a key leadership role in the Americas marketing team. You get the Dr. Martens brand and are excited to support the team in enhancing Dr. Martens footprint in the Americas region.
THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART
- Be the guardian and tracker of all regional consumer insights, including brand KPI’s (Awareness, Familiarity, NPS) and where needed, additional regional quant +/or qual research.
- Lead the development of the annual and seasonal integrated marketing plans, amplifying global initiatives and developing regional-specific campaigns, built on consumer insights, to deliver the brand and business goals.
- Develop your team into high-performing, high-functioning employees within a cohesive, effective brand marketing unit.
- Lead the relationship with Dr. Martens’ external creative agencies to develop best in class plans, quality of deliverables, and that deadlines and budgets are met.
- Lead the regional content strategy, working with global & regional creative teams to ensure cohesive storytelling across channels and the right mix of emotional and functional storytelling; Collaborate with cross functional teams to support the DTC and marketplace content needs, and ensure partnerships and content meet brand standards.
- Manage all aspects of the brand budget, and set strategy for spend allocation across the year, the funnel, and competing objectives.
- Oversee the Social Media team, building out seasonal plans and strategies that support the regional marketing goals; Build out the regional Advocacy Program, identifying authentic partnerships and delivering content that results in strong brand impressions and high engagement,
- Oversee the PR team, developing and implementing seasonal PR plans and event activations for the US & Canada; Align with the global PR and brand marketing teams to ensure Dr. Martens continues its authentic cultural relationships within music, art, fashion and under-represented communities.

To join our team, you will need a strong mix of marketing and leadership capabilities:
- Experience building a cross channel content strategy, briefing in creative teams, and delivering content to cross functional partners.
- Proven experience planning, executing, and tracking large marketing projects and budgets, across channels.
- International travel: 10-15%; Domestic travel: 15-20%.
- Deep understanding of the social media and PR landscapes.
- Ability to work at a standard computer set up 40+ hours per week, with or without accommodations.
- Experienced brand marketer, with 10+ years of experience in brand strategy, regional marketing planning and communications, preferably in lifestyle, fashion, and/or youth culture marketing.
- Proven ability to combine data and research into marketing communications to maximize results.
- Proven expertise in managing experiential programs that link to broader brand and business goals.
- Significant experience partnering with external agencies, including agency selection, briefing and management.
- Digital first mindset, with experience testing new, innovative marketing techniques and channels.

- Bachelors’ degree in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience with continuous professional development.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively present to and influence senior leaders.

- Strong people manager, experienced in building a highly engaged team – ensuring a collaborative, supportive culture.
- Take ownership for own development, proactively seeking out feedback to build self-awareness.

- Excellent leadership skills, including proven ability to manage / lead within a complex matrix organization, including across global and regional cross-functional partners.
