Marketing Director, Spirits Portfolio


Main Purpose of Role: To lead a well-funded re-brand process, repositioning this supplier, covering all aspects of brand planning and strategy across their portfolio


Key Skills/Experience Required:

  • Analyzing consumer insights, competitive and category trends to identify actionable opportunities.
  • Solid grasp of brand planning and marketing strategy principles.
  • Effective presentation and communication skills for leadership teams, agencies, and distributors.
  • Highly proficient in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Google Workspace, Slack, and Keynote.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and financial/business understanding, including previous P&L ownership experience.
  • Experience in creating and deploying consumer and trade campaigns, including on and off-premise activation, brand experience, digital marketing, and social media (with proven ROI).
  • Developing and tracking KPI and ROI metrics for both agency and in-house marketing teams.
  • 8+ years of experience in spirits or craft beer brand management.
  • Thriving in an exciting start-up environment, being adaptable to changing situations.
  • Natural collaborator, building relationships with existing suppliers and utilizing your own network.


Accountability:

  • Supporting founders on a bold mission to reposition this distillery
  • Managing research and data.
  • Increasing net promoter score.
  • Increasing volume and market share.
  • Working with a world-class agency to craft a new proposition and communications plan.
  • Conducting ongoing brand planning & strategy for brands.
  • Managing the output of a small and dynamic marketing team.


Differentiating Competencies Desired:

  • Previous work in a business/brand that has previously exited.
  • Experience working on a re-brand, brand refresh, or brand launch.
  • Passion & Pride for New York City, aligning with this supplier
  • Passionate about the spirits and hospitality industries.
  • Managed double-digit brand growth for three consecutive years.


Main Interactions Within and Outside the Organization:

  • External - Interacting with agencies, including PR, Strategic Design, and Brand Experience.
  • Internal – Ongoing interaction with your marketing team, and regular communication with the founding partners.
  • Accountability to the Board, part of a Senior Management Team.
