Overview:
We are actively recruiting for Market Leaders to join the team in multiple locations. Successful candidates will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment where they can lead and manage their market like their own business and will do so with a growth mindset and a customer-centric attitude. They will also be in (or be willing to relocate to) one of our open markets in order to be onsite daily.
The Market Leader will direct and supervise the team and operations in a specific geographic region ensuring the delivery of quality customer service and the achievement of sales/productivity goals. The Market Leader will have overall responsibility for the growth and health of the business which includes team members and a truck fleet. The position will report to, and partner closely with, the COO. The ideal candidate will have an operations, military, or sales leadership background in the logistics, transportation, or facilities services field.
What You Will Do:
- Plan and organize daily activities related to logistics and operations including re-route and optimizations.
- Determine pricing, timing, and the number of products to be sold in partnership with COO.
- Oversee the inventory, including final purchases, shipping, and receiving functions.
- Conduct regular staff communications to ensure that goals and objectives are clearly communicated with unit team; provide guidance and leadership to enable team members to meet these goals and objectives.
- Ensure safety & compliance standards are met with support from the Head of Risk Management, Fleet & Safety.
- Prepare, negotiate, analyze, and review contracts for equipment, supplies, materials, services, and products.
- Own responsibility for overall P&L of assigned locations/business unit.
- Collaborate with the COO to set performance standards. Standards may be based on financial and operational goals and required compliance with internal, local, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Coordinate with other support departments such as human resources, finance, operations, and integration to ensure successful operations.
- Determine labor needs to meet operations goals.
- Review/oversee the schedules and work of staff ensuring safety & deliverables are met.
- Hire, manage, and develop team members. Ensure new employees are appropriately trained.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Measure productivity by analyzing customer feedback, performance data, financial data, and activity reports.
- Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive, providing recommendations for promotion and salary adjustment, as appropriate.
- Review and approve budget and expenditures for business unit.
- Oversee the disposal of unclaimed or surplus property.
- Maintain and develop positive relationships with existing and prospective clients, demonstrating excellent customer service and setting an example for other staff.
- Participate in community activities to promote the organization and to build goodwill, and oversee major events as needed.
What You Need to be Successful:
- Proficiency in Route logistics, operations software, QuickBooks or Financial software, Microsoft Office Suite, or similar software with the ability to learn and implement new online & logistics tools.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated financial management experience with the ability to interpret financial data to set operations & sales goals.
- Extensive knowledge of operations and service management.
- Excellent sales, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- 5+ years of progressive industry, military, or related experience, with 3 yrs. of people management required.
- Excellent leadership and managerial skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, delegating when appropriate.
- Ability to remain professional and composed under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of OSHA & DOT regulatory matters and procedures for proper operation.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to access and navigate the shop & office facility.
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds at a time.
- Ability to drive trucks and deliver trailers and/or fill in for P&D or cleaning routes, if needed.
- Must be able to communicate in person, and by phone, email, etc.
- Able to sustain periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
