How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)

Delta is forming a new Developer Experience organization. Deltas technology development teams work daily to ensure that Delta technology enables the best experience for our customers and our people. We want these development teams to be able to focus on delivering value to our customers, so we are forming an organization with the Delta developers as OUR customers. This organization will focus on building products to improve our developers experience every day. The IT Manager for the Developer Experience (DX) organization is responsible for team leadership, mentorship and coaching, and promoting Delta's technology leadership culture throughout their team. The IT Manager will lead a team responsible for delivering cloud-based solutions for strategic products with the purpose of improving efficiency for developers and enabling them to focus on their own products. This role will partner with peer level positions across the IT organization to understand the needs of their user base and evangelize adoption of their products.

Responsibilities:
  • Communicate the departmental and program leadership vision/strategy and then manage people and technology to follow that direction
  • Lead team efforts, delegating tasks, following up on progress of the team, and coaching junior and new team members
  • Collaborate with product, project and development stakeholders and teams, gathering requirements, coordinating dependencies and identifying risks and opportunities
  • Ensure that the Delta methodology, standards and procedures are adopted and implemented
  • Manage and make visible the DX product backlog, or the prioritized list of requirements for future product development
  • Regularly report on progress, risks, delivery roadmap and successful implementations
  • Promote cross-business collaboration and insight, educating and bringing teams on the cloud journey by breaking down silos
  • Build broad-reaching relationships to expand DX objectives and technical impact across the IT organization
  • Anticipate future consequences for immediate technical choices and keep up with Deltas technology roadmap; have a broad knowledge and perspective for the long term
  • Prioritize by iterating the order of items in the product backlog incorporating stakeholder feedback based on strategic organizational needs
  • Supervise/Manage all aspects (including coaching, providing direction, staffing, delivering reviews, setting aligned objectives, time reporting, etc.) of direct reports overall performance
  • Champion a product-focused culture within the DX organization and with stakeholders across Delta
  • Manage delivery/expectations of 3rd party consultants if needed

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Open thinker, willing to bring in new ideas and concepts to the team
  • Base understanding of Cloud from Business/Product Owner perspective
  • Organizational Skills - Highly organized, able to compartmentalize many varied tasks at the same time and see through to the end
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Strong bias for action; fills in gaps when encountered
  • Strong technical and non-technical communication skills. Assures smooth flowing, timely transmission of critical information. Oral and written communication is well organized, clear, accurate, grammatically correct, and is adapted for the target audience. Seeks clarification and confirms shared understanding when communicating with all levels of management and staff.
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Strong leadership ability with a track record of developing people and achieving challenging objectives
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority
  • Agile experience
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of IT and/or business experience, or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training with three (3) to five (5) years business analysis and/or previous airline business experience
