Job Summary/Objective
Supports the strategic direction of corporate Human Resources and provides oversight and leadership in developing and implementing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives. Oversees functions related to human resource management, development, and team member services; directs and coaches department personnel in day-to-day activities. Performs various human resources activities and/or works through team members in areas such as: team member relations, talent management, business partnerships, career pathing, professional development, compliance, unemployment, and policy management. Serves as contact for team members and answers questions regarding regulations, policies, and procedures. Provides strategic support for initiatives related to the employee experience, program management, and the standardization of job description and compensation programs.
Key Responsibilities & Duties (essential to the job)
1. Leads, motivates, and manages assigned members of the human resources team, setting objectives and priorities, and removing road blocks for successful ongoing activity for team members
2. Oversees the overall employee experience from onboarding to and onboarding to offboarding, engagement strategies, and program management. Develops strong working relationships with management and staff; provides advice, guidance, and coaching as needed
3. Oversees activities related to team member relations, and policy and program management
4. Provides operational HR guidance to managers; offers input on decisions that require sound HR practices and perspectives that are in-line with governmental regulations. Investigates team member relations and conflicts, and brings them to resolution. Coaches managers on how to address and document performance issues
5. Assists management with the development of action plans and strategies to address particular departmental workforce needs; works with management in all departments to support the company’s growth, drive change, and position the organization for long-term success
6. Identifies and researches human resources issues, and contributes information, analysis and recommendations in line with the company’s strategic objectives
7. Maintains and updates HR policies. Communicates, interprets and ensures compliance with company policies. Maintains compliance with all relevant regulations
8. Manages compliance related programs including immigration, medical/religious workplace accommodations, and unemployment claims. Maintains current knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and rules, and provides guidance and recommendations to eliminate or mitigate risk to the company
Education
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required, with a focus in Business, Human Resources, or related discipline. In the absence of a degree, equivalent work experience directly related to the key responsibilities of the role will be considered as a substitute for the degree.
Experience, Skills and Key Competencies
At least 6 years’ of progressively responsible experience working across multiple HR functions, with at least 1 year of management experience leading direct reports. Must also be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge of employment law
  • Broad knowledge of human resources and related best practices to include recruitment, talent management, employee relations, learning & development, performance coaching, and engagement and retention strategies
  • Can apply principles of analytical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, consider options, and recommend solutions based on all variables
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and create an engaging and positive culture that motivates and empowers others to do great work
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish collaborative working relationships across global teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively tailor communications to a specific audience or call to action
  • Able to work successfully and productively in a team environment, as well as independently in a self-managed and proactive manner with limited guidance
  • Strong ability to be unfailingly professional, diplomatic, and objective in high pressure situations
